Hopefully, the beginning of this month does not bring May showers to Edmonton, because we’ve got a huge weekend ahead of us.

We’ve got some of the best things to do this week in Edmonton all rounded up for you. Whether you’re looking to explore the city, go to an event, or browse a market or two, we’ve got everything you could possibly want to do.

Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Edmonton’s science centre offers feature displays, interactive learning opportunities, and so much more. Here, you can even catch a movie in IMAX or visit one of its many exhibits.

This weekend, the new feature exhibit opens. You might wanna check out what it has to offer…

There’s no question that Edmonton has some of the best escape rooms. We’ve rounded up the best of them in a list for you to check out as a family, and maybe, just maybe, you might be able to escape.

We’ve rounded up some of the best hikes and trails in and around Edmonton. Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned hiker, or just a casual trail lurker, we’ve got something for everyone. These trails are also good in the summer and for year-round walking, but we recommend them this time of year.

This year-round market is home to over 120 different vendors, and more than 80 per cent of those vendors are local, who make, bake, and grow their own products. It offers so much more than you could ever imagine, so you’ll just have to check it out yourself.

When: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday
Where: 3696 97th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.

Friday Night Trivia is hosted each week at Telus World of Science’s Purple Pear Restaurant. This event is not only free but also family-friendly, so everyone can participate and compete.

When: Every Friday
Time: 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Telus World of Science — 11211 142nd St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Props and Hops is an event run by the Alberta Museum, which acts as an adults-only evening in the museum. This time, they’re turning the museum into a game night extravaganza. Surrounded by the history of aviation as well as many historic planes and figures, you’ll be sure to have an informative and interesting night.

When: Friday, May 1, 2026
Time: 7 to 11 p.m.
Where: Alberta Aviation Museum — 11410 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $25+

This market in Old Strathcona has been around for ages, and it’s Edmonton’s most premier farmers’ market. Being the original year-rounder, this place offers the best locally grown and made goods as well as trinkets you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 10310 83rd Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Here, you can explore an array of snakes, lizards, turtles, amphibians, and invertebrates, all of which are showcased by excellent breeders and knowledgeable experts. You can educate yourself on these creatures and even get the chance to handle them yourself, as well as find everything you’ll need for your scaly friends at home.

When: Saturday, May 2, 2026, and Sunday, May 3, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday
Where: Enjoy Centre — 101 Riel Dr., St. Albert, Alta.
Cost: $10+

Queen Mary’s Market is located in the heart of Edmonton and offers over 130 vendors, as well as five individual restaurants within the building. This market takes on strong local vendors with a selection of antiques, rare collectibles, local produce, artisanal goods, and services.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 12011 111th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

You can kick off the Cinco de Mayo season with this vibrant cultural exchange and a massive celebration of all things taco. Not to mention, get involved in the taco competition for the most dedicated taco places in Edmonton.
