It’s the first weekend of October, and Edmonton is packed with things to do this fall. From film festivals to corn mazes, there’s no shortage of fun in and around the city.

No matter what vibe you’re going for this upcoming weekend, we’ve rounded up a load of events fit for any occasion. Whether it’s a romantic walk with a close one or a frightening haunt with friends, this list has got you covered.

Returning for 10 days this fall is the 40th annual Edmonton International Film Festival. Edmonton’s annual festival focuses on highlighting the incredible and diverse films from around the world. With films curated from submissions and solicited from distributors, this festival showcases high-quality films and presents a series of filmmaker chats, Q&As, gala screenings, local filmmaker spotlights, and more opportunities for film lovers and makers.

When: Now until Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre — 10200 102nd Ave. NW, Edmonton; Metro Cinema — 8712 109th St. NW, Edmonton
Cost: Tickets starting at $15

This corn maze sits west of Edmonton and features outdoorsy, family-friendly fun from August to October. Complete with farm animals, spud gun launches, mini golf, a popular sunflower stroll, photo opportunities, and a pumpkin patch coming this fall, this experience truly offers it all.

When: Now until Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday; 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays

Pumpkins After Dark is back for more Halloween madness, and this year, it’s rebuilt the experience for the most immersive, memorable, and magical season yet. This upcoming weekend will be its first time operating in Edmonton in 2026.

When: Now until Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026
Time: 6:30 to 11 p.m.
Where: Borden Park — 7507 Borden Park Rd. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Varies depending on date

If you aren’t familiar, Deadmonton is easily one of the creepiest, scariest, and most exciting haunted houses in Edmonton during Halloween season. With three new haunts ready for your arrival, you’re going to have your socks absolutely knocked off. Invite some friends, grab your coat, and get ready for the thrill of a lifetime.

When: Now until Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026
Time: Varies
Where: 9300 47th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Varies based on time and date

With 20 themed rooms and live actors lurking around every corner, this haunted house in Alberta is back this October with familiar frights and all-new terrors awaiting.

When: Fridays and Saturdays starting Friday, Oct. 2, to Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026
Time: 3 to 5 p.m. (Kids Hour); 6 to 11 p.m. (Scary Hour)
Where: 5225 52nd Ave., Vegreville, Alta.

Dust off your dirndls and lederhosen; this is the last weekend folks will get to head on down to Fan Park for the most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in the city. Make the most of it while you still can!

When: Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026
Time: 5 p.m.
Where: 10104 104th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.

Get ready to watch non-stop retro cartoons spanning the 40s through the 90s and enjoy binging on the provided multi-coloured sugary cereals.

Queen Mary’s Market is located in the heart of Edmonton and offers over 130 vendors, as well as five individual restaurants within the building. This market features strong local vendors with a selection of antiques, rare collectibles, local produce, artisanal goods, and services.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 12011 111th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.

The Harvest Art and Book Fair is coming back to Edmonton this October, bringing along fresh new author panels and workshops for its fourth annual fall event. Whether you’re looking to build your own zine in a workshop or just check out some of your favourite local vendors, this weekend fair is going to be a blast.

When: Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is Edmonton’s largest and longest-standing outdoor market, offering over 200 vendors and a wonderful variety of handmade goods and locally produced treats. It’s a great community-driven market that’s perfect for those looking to get closer to bakers, chefs, artisans, and more.
