If you’re playing on PS5, you can preload Nioh 3 now, coming in at a whopping 79GB. If you’ve pre-ordered the game digitally, the option should be available from your library. However, you cannot preload the game if you’re playing on PC. If you’ve been playing the demo, you can also carry your progress forward to the main game on both PC and PS5.

What to expect in Nioh 3

As mentioned above, Nioh 3 has an open world for the first time. Well, kind of; it’s actually split into four separate regions, so while you can explore each of those as you unlock them in any order you like, they are gated behind story progression. There’s a plethora of side objectives and missions to tick off on each map, so while the game will urge you down the main quest to reclaim each region from the Yokai, you can take your time.

It’s a Soulslike at heart, which means you should expect tough combat, respawning enemies, and grotesque yet intriguing boss fights. While playing it for our Nioh 3 review, I spent over 30 hours just exploring the first region, ensuring I was sufficiently leveled up for what came next. So there’s a lot of video game here, and it’s pretty damn good.
