Vancouver just had the shortest snowfall and it was magical

18 February 20262 Mins Read

Vancouver, you’ll want to look out your window right around now. Just when we thought the city might have a snow-less winter, things have turned around. Across Vancouver, a flurry of activity (pun intended) has given way to proper snowfall (it did for a little while, at least). And yes, some of it is sticking!

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the forecast for Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, only saw a 30 per cent chance of wet flurries or rain showers, which would clear by the evening. However, if you looked outside between 8 and 9:30 a.m., you may have been lucky enough to catch what is likely Vancouver’s first and only snowfall of the season.

Has the snow already ceased to fall while writing this sentence? Yes. Is it highly likely that everything will melt away within the hour if it hasn’t already? Also yes. But for a brief moment, Vancouver gleamed with winter possibilities. The sun pierced through the clouds, setting the snowflakes aglow. It was nothing short of magical.

On the bright side, Grouse, Cypress, and Seymour Mountains are looking a lot better for winter sports than they have been all season. So fingers crossed there!

And you never know, the forecasted rain showers might just turn to snow if temperatures remain close enough to freezing.

As for the rest of the week, Environment Canada forecasts a mix of sun and rain, with daytime temperatures jumping up to 9°C on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

So until then, keep your eyes peeled for flurries!
