If you were one of the 120 million people who tuned into Super Bowl LX this past February, you probably caught the biggest television surprise of the year: a completely unannounced teaser trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
If you didn’t catch it live, you’ve likely spent the last month and a half squinting at muddy, low-res bootlegs on X and Reddit. In a brilliant (and maddening) marketing move, Netflix opted not to officially release the teaser online after it aired. Until now, fans have been left to analyze blurry cell-phone recordings of a TV screen to catch a glimpse of Brad Pitt’s return as the iconic stuntman-turned-fixer.
Thankfully, the drought is over. Thanks to the good folks over at The Fincher Analyst, we’ve been provided with additional high-quality stills from the elusive Super Bowl spot, finally giving us a crystal-clear look at the rumored $200 million cinematic event of 2026. They’ve also got a better HD edition of the trailer on YouTube (see embedded below).

While the stills aren’t quite the high-quality standard as if Netflix released the trailer or stills itself (hey, at least they acknowledged the movie, something until now they haven’t been able/willing to do), they certainly provide a good glimpse at where we’re heading.
These high-quality stills finally give us a proper look at the gritty, neon-drenched alternate history of 1970s Los Angeles, and there’s definitely a LOT of Fincher-inspired cinematography and shots. It’s much darker than Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, for instance. We see Pitt effortlessly sliding back into the denim and aviators of Cliff Booth, looking just as dangerous—and weirdly alluring—as he did in the Tarantino 2019 epic. We also get sharp glimpses of the creatively animated graphics that the teaser used to censor its more risqué, exploitation-style elements, hinting at the dark, seedy underbelly of Hollywood that this film is set to explore.
There’s still a lot we’ve got to learn, including the finalized full cast list and an all-important release date (which has been reported as early as August).
As a reminder of what we know so far:
- The Writer: Quentin Tarantino originally penned the script for himself to direct, continuing the story of Rick Dalton’s lethal best friend and stunt double. Some reporting suggests it’ll be referred to as a teleplay rather than a screenplay.
- The Director: After Tarantino put the script aside, Brad Pitt reportedly convinced him to hand the directorial reins over to modern maestro David Fincher (Se7en, The Social Network, The Killer).
- The Editor: Longtime Fincher collaborator Kirk Baxter, ACE, is confirmed to be cutting the film.
Who is Joining Brad Pitt?
Alongside Pitt, the film boasts a stacked, star-studded ensemble cast taking on this adult-themed Hollywood fairy tale:
- Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown, Tenet)
- Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman)
- Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher, Gerald’s Game)
- Timothy Olyphant (Returning as Jim Stacy)
- Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-0, Ocean’s Eleven)
