Sports documentaries have been a major staple for Netflix, but one of its high-octane additions is officially hitting the brakes on the service. Both seasons of the NASCAR docuseries Full Speed are scheduled to leave Netflix globally in May 2026, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given the surprise jump the documentary format took earlier this year.

First added to Netflix USA on January 30th, 2024, Full Speed attempted to do for NASCAR what Formula 1: Drive to Survive did for F1. The behind-the-scenes series follows drivers and their teams as they fuel their passion and chase NASCAR Cup glory, offering fans an unprecedented look into the high-stakes world of stock car racing.

While the show was a hit with racing fans, the franchise has recently shifted gears.

As many fans will already know, the series jumped ship to Amazon Prime Video for its third outing. The newest iteration of the show, Full Speed: The Daytona 500, premiered exclusively on Prime Video on March 5th, 2026. Now, because the streaming partnership with NASCAR Studios has officially moved to Amazon, Netflix’s licensing rights for the first two seasons are coming to an end.

A removal notice is now showing on the Full Speed page, indicating that your last day to watch on Netflix is May 6th, with the title officially departing the library on May 7th, 2026. This won’t come as a huge surprise, as we had intel that the series would be departing earlier this year, but as with all things pertaining to licensing, things can change.

Interestingly, this removal date lands exactly one year to the day after Season 2 was added to Netflix (May 7th, 2025).

It comes as Netflix has seemingly pulled back on sports-adjacent programming, whether that’s by cutting episode counts (see Full Swing) or quietly calling time on titles like its coverage of rugby or tennis. Formula 1: Drive to Survive still performs relatively well for the streamer, though its viewership has declined from its highs a few years ago. Netflix is pushing into more live sports programming, however, plus additional documentaries, such as an upcoming one on soccer (football) legend Ronaldinho.

Looking at the engagement report data for Full Speed, it’s not rocket science why they didn’t mind the series jumping away from Netflix. Season 1 of the show picked up 3.8M views for the entirety of 2024, while season 2 had dropped to just 1.1M for the entire year.

If you’re planning a last-minute binge-watch before it leaves, you have 10 episodes to get through across Seasons 1 and 2. Once it leaves Netflix, you’ll need to fire up Prime Video, where the first two seasons already reside alongside the hour-and-a-half feature serving as season 3.

For a complete look at everything else leaving Netflix in May 2026, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix.
