North America’s largest Hong Kong festival will take over Metro Vancouver for one day only

13 April 20262 Mins Read

For many, the annual Vancouver Hong Kong Fair is a taste of home, while for others, it’s an opportunity to experience Hong Kong street food and culture for the first time. No matter which category you fit into, the fifth annual festival is definitely one to bookmark for this spring!

Returning for a full day of street food, cultural performances, and immersive activities in early May, the Hong Kong Fair is set to have a record number of vendors and food booths this year. It’ll be a true feast for all of your senses, filling more than just your stomach.

Taking over The Shipyards, the event will include walk-through experiences based on everyday life in Hong Kong, from the city’s fascinating architecture to the bakeries and herbal shops that line its neighbourhood streets.

Hosted by local volunteer organization HK House, the festival will also feature a full day of live performances on the HKer Stage that tell the story of the Hong Kong Canadian diaspora.

“This year, the focus is simple: the streets of Hong Kong,” explain organizers. “The buildings we lived in. The uniforms we wore. The food we grabbed on the way home. The neon lights, the tight sidewalks, the small details you don’t think about until they’re gone.”

Immersive art installations, photo booths, and art workshops will bring Hong Kong’s visual culture to life, while tempting baked goods, drinks, and street food will await you at the food booths to give your taste buds an idea of the diverse array of flavours that comprise Hong Kong cuisine.

The free-to-enter event is more than just a market or typical street festival — it’s a chance to engage in shared memories or try something new.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 3, 2026.
