There’s a botanical park just outside of Edmonton with free entry every day

27 April 20262 Mins Read

St. Albert Botanic Park is located just north of Edmonton, and it’s perfect for that daily dose of spring flowers and fresh air.

Situated in the botanical city, it only makes sense that St. Albert has its own botanical park. With free entry and availability year-round, you can stroll through this five-acre park any day of the year. Now that the weather is finally starting to warm up, you can appreciate this park much, much more.

What to know

This year, there was an unfortunate incident regarding a 110-year-old heritage White Spruce tree. During March, the strong winds across Alberta blew down three trees in the garden, including the White Spruce Tree, which narrowly avoided the fountain in the Rose Garden.

Despite this, the park still stands strong, just with some extra spring cleaning to do.

Speaking of spring, with the season coming into fruition, despite all the weather mishaps we’ve been having, things are starting to bloom in the park. The gift shop at the park opens May 4, and the annual Mother’s Day rose and plant sale is being held on May 9.

Although things aren’t really happening until May, don’t forget the park gates are always open. You can explore everything this botanical park has to offer any day, any time, any way you want. If you want to check out the Rose Garden with a date, stroll along and look at the tree with your family, no matter what the occasion, it’s a perfect spot for a calm afternoon.

Going to make the drive out of the city into St. Albert? No problem. There’s minimal parking at the botanical gardens themselves, but there’s a lot in the surrounding area. You’ll be sure to find a spot without much trouble.

If you’re ready to celebrate all things spring, or maybe if you’re ready to put some plans in order for Mother’s Day, this should definitely be on the list.

Where: 265 Sturgeon Rd., St. Albert, Alta.
