This specialty pet store in Edmonton also acts as a cuddly cat lounge

30 April 20263 Mins Read

At this cat-focused pet store in Edmonton, you can cuddle with kittens in the cat lounge of your dreams.

Cheery Cat Co. is a specialty store in Edmonton specifically for cats and cat owners. You’ll be pleased to meet its curated collection of high-end specialty cat products, from interactive toys to premium catnip. Most importantly, you’ll be itching to visit the Cheery Palace, a place where cats roam free, and where you can be a part of their fun.

While aiming to make a positive impact on other foster cats’ lives, Cheery Cat Co. is here to celebrate the joy that kittens bring to ours.

What to expect

The online boutique is small, so we’d obviously recommend going in person to support this store. Plus, you don’t want to miss your chance to meet the kittens.

There’s the shop itself, and the cat experience in the Cheery Palace.

This palace-themed foster cat area is only fit for royalty. Here, you’ll find five to 10 free-roaming kittens ready to play and cuddle, all available to adopt through the shop’s rescue partner: Community Cats. Thanks to this, the company, with the help of Community Cats, have successfully matched over 100 foster kittens to forever families.

To participate, you can walk in or make an appointment to see all the animals. Just make sure to show up 10 minutes early to sign the waiver!

When you walk in, you’ll find a whole bunch of cats roaming around, and you might be overwhelmed with excitement. The most important thing is to follow all the rules. Don’t skimp out on reading them. To add to that, don’t forget socks— they’re mandatory.

For half an hour of time with the kittens, it’s $12 for adults and $6 for kids. If you want an hour, it goes up to $18 and $12.

There are also weekly specials, like Toonie Tuesdays, where buying one regular admission will get the second for just $2. Or, if you’re a night owl, you’ll love Twilight Hour: $10 for a full hour of cuddles after 7 p.m., Sunday through Thursday.

If you’re looking for the coziest way to end your day, you just might have found it. I know what I’m doing after work.

When: Open every day
Time: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: 4215 Calgary Trl. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $12+
