You can now take a direct bus from Union Station to Wasaga Beach for as low as $30, Canada Reviews

18 June 20262 Mins Read

Wasaga Beach is one of Ontario’s most stunning white-sand getaways, and now there’s a new car-free way for Torontonians to reach the iconic summer destination directly from downtown.

FlixBus just launched a new direct, twice-daily round-trip bus service connecting Union Station to Wasaga Beach, aptly dubbed The Wasaga Beach Line. The fastest trip takes just over two hours, with one-way tickets as low as $29.98.

And this summer is the perfect time to make use of the new service, whether you’re looking for a day trip or a quick weekend escape. Wasaga’s 14-km shoreline stretches along Georgian Bay and is known as the world’s longest freshwater beach. The powdery soft coastline is surrounded by warm, shallow water, making it perfect for anyone looking to soak in the sun or dive in for a swim.

And there’s much more than just the beach! In the coming months, visitors can expect more than 80 musical performances, along with weekly events, festivals and even Canada Day fireworks. On Tuesdays, you can be serenaded by live music after exploring the local farmers’ market, or bring the whole family for outdoor movie nights under the stars, with classics like The Garfield Movie, How to Train Your Dragonand Lilo & Stitch.

On Canada Day, Wasaga Beach will host a full day of family-friendly programming at Nancy Island from noon to 10 p.m., including historic tours, games, activities, food trucks, a World Cup watch party, and, of course, a symphony fireworks show over Georgian Bay to end the night.

Later in July, the new Wasaga BeachLife Festival & Midway will take over with live entertainment, midway rides, games, paddleboarding, sunset rides and music under the stars, while Awaken the Isle (Aug 15) will bring a free pirate-themed event to Nancy Island with roaming characters, storytelling and family-friendly activities.

And because it’s never too early to plan, Memories of Summer returns over Labour Day weekend with a three-night beachfront music festival, with Motown sounds and a fireworks finale over the waterfront.

After exploring Wasaga Beach, check out this other car-free trip from Toronto: this $35 VIA trip leads to a charming small town with river trails and a historic inn.
