Billie Eilish is in Toronto working on a new film directed by Toronto’s Sarah Polley, and local actors could be cast as background performers.
The Grammy-winning singer is starring in a new adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s classic novel The Bell Jar.
The project—working under the title Intel Pink—began shooting on June 29 and is expected to continue through Sept. 2.
According to an ACTRA Toronto post, the film is looking for local actors right now.
“The production is looking primarily for performers ages 20s to 40s, but anyone over 18 may apply,” read a post on social media. “Performers must be willing to adapt their appearance to 1950s style. Filming is taking place from June 29th to September 2nd, 2026 in Toronto, Hamilton and Ancaster.”
The film is set in the 1950s, which means Toronto-area streets could be transformed into period pieces. Fans looking to catch a glimpse of the star should take note.
Eilish will take on the lead role of Esther Greenwood in the singer’s major acting debut.
The story is based on Sylvia Plath’s semi-autobiographical novel, following a young woman navigating mental health struggles, identity, and pressure in mid-century America.
Polley’s most recent feature film, Women Talking, won her an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay as well as a nomination for Best Picture in 2023.
