Double trouble: Meet the artists taking on multiple shows at this year’s Toronto Fringe, Theater News

The Toronto Fringe Festival returns for its 38th edition this summer, bringing a total of 123 shows to 27 venues across the city over 13 days. As always, the festival’s lottery-selected lineup is packed with artists exploring different forms, stories, and styles — and some are even taking on multiple projects.

From a Bollywood-inspired satire to improvised musicals and puppetry, here are a few of the multi-show artists to watch out for as you plan your Fringe schedule:

Iza Rincón (performer, publicity coordinator)

Rincón performs in Snacey!, a campy musical about a misunderstood snake preparing for a birthday party while reckoning with family, past behaviour, and the possibility of change. She also serves as publicity coordinator for God Save the Sodomites, a screwball comedy in which two angels are sent to Sodom and Gomorrah to decide whether the city is worth saving. 

Jimmy Hogg (writer, performer)

Hogg returns to Toronto Fringe with Jimmy Hogg: Mashed, a solo storytelling show that follows last year’s Jimmy Hogg: The Potato King. He also plays Alfie in Evie & Alfie: A Very British Love Story, a comedy about a retired couple whose everyday routine reveals the memories and partnership they’ve built together. 

Janelle McGuinness (creator, performer)

McGuinness is one of the creator-performers behind Mirv-ish: An Improvised Musical, a musical comedy built live each night from audience suggestions. She’s also the writer-performer of By Popular Demand, a 1920s-inspired solo show that blends sketch comedy and music through the story of a charming hostess searching for moments of joy in 2026. 

Will Parry (creator, performer)

As creator-performer, Parry brings two very different solo shows to Fringe: Will and the Amazingly Obsessive Theatrical Vinyl Collection, and The Everlasting Friendship of Billy & Bink. The first is an autobiographical musical theatre cabaret built around thrifted records and the communities formed through art. The second is a family-friendly musical about brothers Billy and Bink, a puppet and human duo who must navigate a secret that puts their friendship to the test.

Ben Kopp and Margot Greve (writer-performers)

Kopp and Greve are the creators of Camp!, a musical about two former best friends reconnecting as teens at summer camp and confronting how their relationship has changed. They also perform in Ooga Chaka, a playful clown-style show offering a historically questionable take on the origins of theatre.

Gunjan (writer, performer)

Gunjan is a co-writer and performer on two productions this year. In Hinprov’s D.E.I. Another Day, they contribute to a Bollywood-inspired comedy exploring workplace dynamics and questions of diversity and inclusion. They also helped compose the music and lyrics for Galen’s Grocer: The Musical, an adaptation of last year’s sold-out play about a grocery CEO trying to rebuild his public image.

Vinay Sagar (writer, performer)

Sagar writes and performs alongside Gunjan in D.E.I. Another Day. He’s also one of six writer-performers working on Tortoise, the Hare, and the Truth, a clown show that reimagines the classic fable through an absurdist theatrical lens.

Gordon Neill (artistic director, writer, performer)

Neill, too, is a writer-performer on Tortoise, the Hare, and the Truth. He also created and performs in Short King, a solo show about a tiny ruler who bans shadows from his kingdom. Both productions are playing at the clown hub Sweet Action Theatre, which was founded by Neill and has become a full Fringe venue for the first time.
