GeriActors (geriactors.ca) is an intergenerational theatre company based in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton). Our mission is to develop performer-created theatre (original plays based on true stories and issues of aging) and performance-based activities (community outreach) that are of high quality and that foster positive intergenerational interaction and authentic views of aging. GeriActors is looking to add a talented and enthusiastic General Administrator to our Associate Director and Stage-Manager/Producer team.
Job Description:
General Administration
– Serve as the first point of contact for the organization, responding to and directing inquiries to the appropriate person(s). including the Honorary Founding Artistic Director, Associate Director, Stage -Manager/Producer, and Board members.
– Manage day-to-day administrative operations and organizational correspondence.
– Manage and maintain the organization’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, recruitment, and other promotional activities.
– Manage and maintain organized financial and administrative documentation and filing systems.
Financial Administration
– Coordinate with Associate Director, Board Treasurer, and external funders to prepare casino and grant applications. Ensure compliance with casino and grant reporting requirements.
– Maintain financial records using QuickBooks Online, including expense tracking, invoice processing, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
– Prepare and distribute financial reports, cash flow summaries, and budget-to-actual reports in consultation with the Board Treasurer and bookkeeper.
– Assist the Board Treasurer prepare and present financial reports for approval at Board meetings.
– Assist with annual budget development and ongoing budget monitoring in consultation with the Board Treasurer, Associate Director, and bookkeeper as needed.
Human Resource Administration
– Planning and support for GeriActors outreach activities, in consultation with the Associate Director.
– Prepare and manage temporary staff contracts in consultation with the Associate Director and Board as required.
– Perform other administrative and operational duties as required to support the organization’s programs and activities.
Qualifications:
– Minimum 3 years of job-related work experience in a non-profit/not-for-profit organization and/or arts organization.
– Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software, including experience with accounts payable/receivable, expense tracking, pay roll, reconciliations, and financial record keeping.
– Demonstrated competence preparing grant/casino applications, and meeting grant/casino reporting, and funding compliance requirements
– A degree or diploma in Arts and Cultural Management, Theatre Arts, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field will be considered an asset.
– Experience with or an interest in working with seniors and intergenerational groups in which seniors are included would be considered an asset.
– Knowledge of and experience in the Edmonton theatre and arts community will be considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
This is a remote position with some on-site responsibilities throughout Greater Edmonton. To meet the responsibilities of the position, the successful candidate will be expected to provide their own computer equipment equipped with common office software, reliable internet connection, and transportation
Hours are flexible, with most work taking place weekdays (Monday to Friday) between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Some evening and weekend work will be required to support organizational activities and programs.
