People are calling this 10-slice cake box the ultimate solution for indecisive dessert lovers, Canada Reviews

31 August 20262 Mins Read

If your group chat always falls apart when someone asks, “What are we doing for dessert?” Kanae Cafe has a pretty easy answer. The Toronto spot, known for its crackly, cream-filled choux, now puts 10 different cake slices in one box, so nobody has to agree on just one.

Instead of fighting over chocolate versus fruit, everyone gets their own slice. It means nobody has to compromise, and you don’t end up buying a massive single-flavour cake that half the room won’t even eat.

The flavours are Asian-inspired, with a lighter touch on the sugar. Owner Ellen spent years studying pastry in Osaka, which is where she learned to make chiffon cake so soft and airy.

The 10 slices cover a bit of everything. For earthier flavours, there’s Ube Meets Taro, Sesame in Black, Chestnut Earl Grey Chiffon and Matcha Mori. The fruitier options include Kyoho Grape Gelee, Cherry Pistachio Velvet, Fruit Island and the Ichigo Pudding Cake, which pairs strawberry shortcake with caramel pudding. For something richer, there’s Nama Choco Oreo for chocolate and Caramel Crunch Mountain for a caramelized crunch.

They’re calling it the Kanae Discovery Cake,  and the cost is $72 with tax included. Each box comes with a little card to vote on your top two flavors, plus a $5 voucher for your next visit— — which you’ll probably use on their cream puffs anyway.

You can find them at 390 Silver Star Blvd (Unit 111) in Scarborough, or just order a box online before your next group get-together.
