Minor Hotels has appointed Jason Marques as general manager of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, effective Sept. 1, 2026.

Marques joins the Lisbon hotel after two years as general manager of Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort. In his new role, he will lead the continued development of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade while maintaining the property’s character and heritage.

Tivoli Avenida Liberdade opened in 1933 as the first Tivoli hotel. The property is where the Tivoli brand began and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Marques began his hospitality career in 2003 at Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Resort in the Algarve. Before entering the industry, he completed a qualification in sustainable tourism at INUAF – Instituto Superior Dom Afonso III.

In 2012, Marques joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Algeria as front office manager at Le Méridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre. He later became director of rooms and Green Belt before serving as director of rooms at Sheraton Club des Pins Hotel & Resort.

Marques moved to the Seychelles in 2016 to become executive assistant general manager at Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove. In 2018, he relocated to the Maldives as resort manager of Constance Halaveli Maldives.

He returned to the Seychelles in 2020 to lead the opening of a new Marriott International resort, where he served as both general manager and owner’s representative.

Marques later joined Marriott International’s London headquarters as senior manager of franchise operations for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. His responsibilities included oversight of the operational performance of 116 hotels across Southern Europe.
