A century-old Calgary barn is hosting a Halloween market with more than 30 vendors

16 October 20263 Mins Read

Calgary’s historic Shawnessy Barn is hosting a Halloween Market this month, with two floors of local vendors filling the century-old building. The Barn Artisan’s Halloween Market takes place on Sunday, Oct. 25, and will feature over 30 local vendors selling handmade goods and locally made products.

So if you’ve been meaning to get some shopping done this spooky season, here’s a closer look at what you’ll find at the market.

What to expect at the Halloween Market

What is The Barn Artisan Market?

The Barn Artisan Market is a monthly market in southwest Calgary that showcases local artisans, crafters, and small businesses. The market switches things up throughout the year with different seasonal themes, including Barn After Dark and its upcoming Christmas Market.

During the Halloween market, you’ll find more than 30 vendors set up across both floors, with spooky seasonal decor, Halloween-themed crafts, handmade accessories, and other locally made goods to browse.

What is the history behind the barn?

The Shawnessy Barn was built in 1915 by local homesteader John McInnes, and it still stands on its original site in southwest Calgary. According to The Barn Artisan Market, it’s the last Vernacular-style barn within Calgary city limits and now serves as a community centre and venue for local events, including The Barn Artisan Market.

When is the market?

The Halloween Market takes place on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and if you aren’t able to make it to this one, The Barn Artisan Market will be back with its Christmas Market on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Is it free to attend?

Admission is completely free, and registration isn’t required, so you can stop by and browse without purchasing a ticket.

Free on-site parking will also be available, and if you’re taking transit, the Shawnessy LRT station is just a short walk from the barn. Be sure to check Calgary Transit’s trip planner before you go to plan your route and confirm departure times.

With Halloween just around the corner, there’s no better time to check out what Calgary’s local makers have been working on.

Happy shopping!

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026
Time:  11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Shawnessy Barn – 224 Shawmeadows Rd. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free admission
