For Immediate Release: Lighthouse Festival’s 2027 Summer Season Subscriptions Are Now on Sale!

17 October 20268 Mins Read

Early Bird pricing, available until November 13, offers big savings, exclusive subscriber perks, and the chance to secure the best seats for an exciting season of Canadian comedy, music, and heartfelt storytelling.

PORT DOVER, ON | October 13, 2026 – The countdown to another spectacular summer of laughter has officially begun! Lighthouse Festival is thrilled to announce that subscriptions for its 2027 Summer Season are now on sale to the public, giving theatre lovers in Port Dover, Port Colborne and beyond the opportunity to secure their seats for five outstanding productions at special Early Bird prices.

With Early Bird pricing available only until November 13, 2026, patrons are encouraged to act now to take advantage of significant savings, enjoy exclusive subscriber benefits and secure some of the best seats in the house before single tickets go on sale in the new year.

Curated by Lighthouse Festival’s Artistic Director, David Leyshon, the 2027 season promises an exciting blend of laugh-out-loud comedies, touching stories, a beloved musical, a World Premiere and even a little Canadian hockey history. With productions by some of Canada’s most celebrated playwrights, the upcoming season is packed with humour, heart, memorable characters and stories that celebrate the human experience.

“When I put together the 2027 season, I thought a lot about the things we value in our lives, the things that matter most. I wanted to create a playbill that would make audiences laugh, move them, surprise them and remind them that live theatre has the power to do all of these things like nothing else,” says David Leyshon, Artistic Director of Lighthouse Festival. “We’ve got an extraordinary mix of Canadian stories, from four spirited women chasing their rock-and-roll dreams to a remarkable group of female hockey players breaking barriers. There’s a musical that explores the wonderfully complicated world of relationships, along with beautiful stories about marriage, family and finding our way back to one another. I’m incredibly excited about this lineup, and I think our audiences are going to have an absolute blast!”

Five Fantastic Plays, One Incredible Summer

The 2027 season kicks off with the World Premiere of Steeplechasers by Mark Weatherley, running May 12 to 29 in Port Dover and June 2 to 13 in Port Colborne. Set in 1983, this hilarious comedy follows four determined women who enter a New Wave music competition in a desperate attempt to save their beloved church after its steeple collapses. Think the Golden Girls meet the Go-Go’s, complete with big hair, outrageous outfits, plenty of laughs and an infectious message about friendship and never giving up on your dreams.

Next up is The Golden Anniversaries by acclaimed Canadian playwright Mark Crawford, on stage June 2 to 19 in Port Dover and June 23 to July 4 in Port Colborne. Glen and Sandy Golden have celebrated every wedding anniversary at the same lakeside cottage for 50 years. But this year, things have taken an unexpected turn: Sandy has cancelled the anniversary party and kicked Glen to the curb! Funny, honest and wonderfully relatable, this touching comedy explores the ups, downs and unexpected surprises of a marriage that has lasted half a century.

Music returns to the Lighthouse main stage with I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, the hilarious and beloved Off-Broadway musical by Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts. Running June 23 to July 10 in Port Dover and July 14 to 25 in Port Colborne, this musical comedy takes audiences on a laugh-filled journey through the many stages of romance. From awkward first dates and marriage to parenthood and growing old together, it’s a witty, tuneful and delightfully relatable look at the wonderfully messy business of love.

Beloved Canadian playwright Norm Foster returns to the Lighthouse stage with Mending Fences, playing July 14 to 31 in Port Dover and August 4 to 15 in Port Colborne. Set on a Saskatchewan cattle farm, this warm and funny story centres on a stubborn father and his estranged son, who reunite after 13 years apart. With a little help from a spirited neighbour, the two must confront old wounds, buried secrets and the possibility of forgiveness. Filled with Foster’s trademark humour and heartfelt storytelling, Mending Fences is a moving celebration of family, second chances and the importance of connection.

Closing out the five-play season is Glory by Tracey Power, on stage August 18 to September 4 in Port Dover and September 8 to 19 in Port Colborne. Inspired by the remarkable true story of the Preston Rivulettes, one of Canada’s most celebrated women’s hockey teams, this energetic production transports audiences to 1933, when four determined women set out to prove that hockey isn’t just a man’s game. Told through music, movement, humour and powerful storytelling, Glory is a thrilling celebration of courage, friendship and breaking barriers, both on and off the ice.

A Musical Season Topper Worth Celebrating!

The excitement doesn’t end with the five-play season! Lighthouse Festival’s 2027 Season Topper, I Love A Violin!, starring the immensely talented Leah Grandmont, promises a dazzling celebration of music, comedy and storytelling.

Joined by an exceptional live band and special guests, Grandmont brings her remarkable talents as a fiddler, singer and comedienne to the stage, celebrating the music and personalities that have inspired her, including Judy Garland, Dolly Parton, Carol Burnett and Joni Mitchell. With extraordinary musicianship, delightful humour and plenty of audience interaction, I Love A Violin! is a joyful musical experience that will have patrons laughing, singing along and tapping their toes.

The Season Topper runs September 15 to 25 in Port Dover and September 29 to October 3 in Port Colborne and is available as an add-on to the main season subscription.
