An immersive art festival is lighting up these Vancouver neighbourhoods for three nights this November

21 October 20262 Mins Read

If the month of November always has you feeling a little down, we get it, and we have good news. The 13th annual Lumière Festival is bringing three downtown Vancouver neighbourhoods to life with immersive light installations for three nights next month.

Centred around light, music, storytelling, and community, the installations will transform multiple public spaces into warm gathering spots that foster connection and creativity.

“Lumière brings people together through the transformative power of art and light,” says Shelley Hayashi, board president of Lumière Festival Vancouver Society. “While reduced funding and rising costs mean the festival will look a little different this year, our commitment to accessible arts and culture remains strong. With the support of our partners, supporters, and artists, Lumière continues to shine and inspire our community.”

Curated by The Wilder (Vancouver-based creative studio) Director Melanie Lazelle, this year’s festival invites residents and downtown-goers to rediscover some of Vancouver’s most well-known public spaces through a creative lens.

Where are the light installations?

From Nov. 12 to 14, you can expect light-based installations, music, and storytelling to illuminate West End, central downtown, and Gastown, with installations popping up at the following locations:

  • Art Gallery North Plaza
  • 800 Robson Plaza
  • Jim Deva Plaza
  • 1800 Davie Plaza
  • Blood Alley Square

Festival-goers can look forward to a diverse program featuring mostly local artists, alongside visiting creatives. Stay tuned for more info on participating artists to come.

Started in 2014, the Lumière Festival Vancouver Society is a non-profit dedicated to transforming the colder season through light, art, music, and performance, strengthening community connection through shared artistic experiences.

The massive light installations will be visible nightly from 5 to 9:30 p.m. from Thursday, Nov. 12 to Saturday, Nov. 14, and are completely free to enjoy.

When: Thursday, Nov. 12 to Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026
Time: 5 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Multiple locations across downtown Vancouver
Cost: Free
