Today, Scandic Hotels Group AB (publ) completed the acquisition of the hotel operations of Dalata Hotel Group. The acquisition comprises 57 hotels with around 12,500 rooms as well as a pipeline of around 1,600 additional rooms.
Upon closing of the acquisition, Scandic paid the purchase price of EUR 500 million on a cash and debt-free basis. The acquisition was financed with cash and cash equivalents as well as loan facilities under the long-term financing framework announced by Scandic in July 2026. The acquired hotel operations will be consolidated into Scandic’s financial reporting under the “Other Europe” segment as of November 2, 2026.
“This marks an important step in Scandic’s growth journey. Having previously been engaged by Pandox to manage the hotel operations, we have gained greater confidence in the potential of the business. Dalata’s strong market position and attractive hotel portfolio are a strong complement to our business. I am pleased to welcome Dalata’s employees to Scandic and look forward to working together to build on the strengths of both companies. We are creating a stronger European hotel platform with broader reach and an even stronger foundation for creating long-term value for our guests, employees and shareholders,” says Jens Mathiesen, President and CEO of Scandic.
The acquisition strengthens Scandic’s position as a leading hotel company in northern Europe, with more than 320 hotels in 150 destinations across 11 markets. The brand portfolio is expanding to include the well-known and popular Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels brands, which hold established positions in Ireland and the UK, two of Europe’s most attractive hotel markets.
More information about the acquisition, including pro forma financial information, will be presented in connection with Scandic’s interim report for the third quarter of 2026, which will be published on November 10, 2026.
