A new interactive hockey exhibit with gear from NHL stars is coming to Edmonton

5 November 20263 Mins Read

Hockey: Faster Than Ever is the Royal Alberta Museum’s newest exhibition, coming to Edmonton this month with an immersive look into the sport featuring hands-on challenges, gear from actual NHL stars, and more.

The Royal Alberta Museum is debuting an all-new exhibit this November that’s entirely hockey-themed, taking visitors through the evolution of ice hockey. According to the museum, guests will be able to check out this fusion of science and sport and step into locker room replicas, compete in hands-on challenges, and even test their own knowledge on all things hockey-related.

Visitors will be able to check out this new exhibit starting Thursday, Nov. 26, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what’s in store.

What will be featured at the new HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever exhibit?

On the Royal Alberta Museum’s website, they feature loads of things to check out while visiting HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever, including:

  • A real ice resurfacer that people can take selfies with
  • Hands-on hockey challenges in a replica rink
  • A locker room with jerseys and gear from star NHL players
  • Skill and knowledge testing interactive displays (measuring things like reflexes, slapshot speed, and puck precision)
  • A touchscreen where visitors can get a closer look at the coveted Stanley Cup

There are also upcoming events on select days at the exhibit, like Drop-In Sketching: Vintage Sports, Hockey Day, Game Ready: Panel Presentation, and more.

If you’re a huge fan of the exhibit, you can even take a small slice of the experience home. Over at the museum shop, guests will be able to purchase the Hockey Puck Plush, Black Hockey Mug, or Hockey Night in Canada Shirt as a commemoration of your visit.

How much is admission?

Admission to the Royal Alberta Museum will give you access to this new exhibition, as well as the rest of the museum.

Daily passes cost $25 for adults (ages 18 to 64), $16 for seniors (ages 65 and over), $12 for youth (ages seven to 17), and are free for children (ages six and under). You can also get family admission passes for $55, which include up to two adults and children 17 or younger (up to a total of eight people).

Above all, those who consider themselves hockey experts or fans of the sport should definitely keep this on their radar. Mark your calendars, too, because it’ll be here before you know it.

When: Thursday, Nov. 26, to Sunday, April 18, 2027
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays through Sundays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)
Where: 9810 103a Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $25 for adults (ages 18 to 64); $16 for seniors (ages 65 and over); $12 for youth (ages seven to 17); free for children (ages six and under)
