Great Fairy’s Fountains are home to, well, Great Fairies in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The Great Fairies are your gateway to magic and abilities. They’ll give you spells that let you create fire, teleport in and out of dungeons, and grant yourself temporary invulnerability.
However, the Great Fairies are hidden away across Hyrule, and they’re pretty hard to find. That’s not all though, as in the remake, you have to offer the fairies rupees before they’ll provide you with any gifts.
Here’s where to find every Great Fairy Fountain in the Ocarina of Time remake, as well as what abilities you’ll receive and how many rupees you have to offer to each Great Fairy.
All Great Fairy’s Fountain locations in Zelda Ocarina of Time
There are six Great Fairy’s Fountains in Ocarina of Time, and each Great Fairy will provide you with a unique reward if you can provide them with enough rupees.
The Great Fairies can be found in the following locations:
- Death Mountain Trail
- Hyrule Castle
- Zora Fountain
- Death Mountain Crater
- Evil Desert Colossus
- Ganondorf’s Castle
For their exact locations, check out the sections below.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #1 — Death Mountain Trail
The first Great Fairy’s Fountain can be found at the top of Death Mountain Trail, but you’ll first need to unlock the Bomb Bag from Dodongo Cavern.
After you have the Bomb Bag, take the path that takes you toward Death Mountain Crater, which is the easternmost path on Death Mountain Trail. Blow up the rocks blocking your way up, and make your way to the stone arch at the top. Go to the end of the tunnel, and the volcano will erupt, launching molten rocks onto the path in front of you. Avoid the rocks and run up the hill as fast as you can. Take out the three Skullwalltulas on the wall, and climb to the top.
On your left, you’ll find Kaepora Gaebora and a breakable rock wall behind him. Blow up the wall and play Zelda’s Lullaby on the Triforce inside. The Great Fairy will speak to you, and tell you that she’ll grant you a new power if you put 25 rupees into the fountain.
Pay her 25 rupees, and you’ll unlock magic power and Din’s Fire. Magic power is a resource used to cast spells, like Din’s Fire. Din’s Fire costs two magic power, and when you cast it, fire will spread outwards, dealing fire damage to anything nearby.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #2 — Hyrule Castle
The second Great Fairy’s Fountain is located on the way to Hyrule Castle, but it’s only reachable by young Link. Additionally, like the previous Great Fairy’s Fountain, you need the Bomb Bag from Dodongo Cavern.
After you climb up the vines and go past the first gate, you’ll see a rock wall on the right side of the path. Break it with a bomb and you’ll find a tunnel that leads to the Great Fairy.
This time, you need to offer her 50 rupees, but she’ll give you Gift of Improved Spin. Now, you can hold down the attack button to charge up a spin attack with magic power. The attack itself won’t cost any magic power, but it’ll deal additional damage.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #3 — Zora Fountain
The third Great Fairy’s Fountain is located at the Zora Fountain. To enter, you’ll need the Bomb Bag from Dodongo Cavern.
After you get King Zora to move, head behind him and you’ll enter Zora Fountain. Go to the southeast corner of the map, and blow up the rock wall in the corner. Enter the cave, and you’ll find the next Great Fairy.
Offer the Great Fairy 100 rupees, and you’ll learn Farore’s Wind, a spell that allows you to create a warp point in a dungeon for two magic power.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #4 — Death Mountain Crater
The fourth Great Fairy’s Fountain is found in Death Mountain Crater, but first, you need to complete the Fire Temple and unlock the Megaton Hammer. Lastly, make sure you’re in the future, and you have the Goron Tunic equipped.
From the Fire Temple warp point, head across the bridge to the east and cross the gap. Follow the path to the south, and you’ll see a black rock embedded in the wall. Break it with the Megaton Hammer, and you’ll discover the entrance to the Great Fairy’s Fountain.
Give her 200 rupees, and she’ll give you the Gift of Doubled Magic, which will double your magic power bar.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #5 — Evil Desert Colossus
The fifth Great Fairy’s Fountain is located in Evil Desert Colossus, which is essentially the entrance to the Spirit Temple. You’ll reach this area after traveling through the Mirage Desert.
Break the rock wall on the north side of the zone, and you’ll find the entrance to the Great Fairy’s Fountain.
Put 300 rupees into the fountain, and you’ll receive Nayru’s Love, which will make you temporarily invulnerable for four magic power.
Great Fairy’s Fountain #6 — Ganondorf’s Castle
The sixth and final Great Fairy’s Fountain is just outside of Ganondorf’s Castle, but first, you need the Golden Gauntlets from the Shadow room inside the castle.
Before you cross the bridge into Ganondorf’s Castle, you’ll find a huge black and gold rock to the east. Pick it up and throw it away to find the entrance to the Great Fairy’s Fountain.
Offer the Great Fairy 500 rupees, and you’ll receive the Gift of Halved Damage. This will literally halve the amount of damage you receive from any damage source.
