Toronto is about to get a whole lot brighter! The holiday season is making its way to the city, and with it comes the return of some of Toronto’s most beloved Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

Whether you’re looking to kick off the festivities with a dazzling downtown celebration or enjoy a cozy evening surrounded by twinkling lights, there are plenty of opportunities to get into the holiday spirit this November.

Here are six Christmas tree lighting ceremonies happening in Toronto this month, including a few that won’t cost you a dime.

The annual Distillery Winter Village returns on Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. with holiday sets by singer and guitarist Mo Guzman, leading up to the main stage event at 6 p.m. Santa will flip the switch to light up the 55-foot silver fir Christmas tree, and following the tree lighting, Juno Award-winning Canadian singer Holly Cole will perform the first song of Christmas and more from her Christmas album.

Time: Winter Village outdoor shopping and food vendors are open at 4 p.m. (Tree lighting at 6 p.m.)
Where: The Distillery Historic District — 55 Mill St., Toronto

Join Fairmont Royal York in its grand lobby as it transforms into a scene of holiday wonder. Carolers will be in attendance with live music setting the evening. And of course, Santa will arrive to greet the crowd. Arrive early to get a perfect viewing spot of the tree lighting.

The month-long winter festival kicks off with the lighting of the 33-foot-tall Christmas tree in Community Square, accompanied by holiday characters, fire pits and a performance by InKloosiv Voices Choir.

Throughout November and into December, enjoy live entertainment, holiday markets, outdoor skating, and family activities across the waterfront campus.

When: Friday, Nov. 20, 2026
Time: Starting at 6:45 p.m.

Head to the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood for the annual Holiday Magic event. The free experience will bring holiday joy to the Village of Yorkville Park with live music and a tree lighting. It all starts at 5 p.m.
