A beloved Toronto Italian restaurant that suddenly vanished might finally be opening back up, Canada Reviews

Big news for Midtown foodies: Cucina Buca might finally be back on the menu at Yonge and St. Clair!

After a quiet few months following some unexpected water damage earlier this year, reservations for the popular Italian spot at 2 St. Clair West have officially popped up on OpenTable starting October 19.

Local dining enthusiasts have been keeping a close watch ever since food writer Stephanie Dickison spotted a totally cleared-out dining room back in May. While its sibling spot, Bar Buca, made a quick comeback at the exact same address in June, Cucina Buca itself kept us waiting in suspense. Now, with prime dinner slots open from 5:30 p.m. onward, it looks like the kitchen is finally gearing up for a triumphant return to the neighbourhood.

When it first landed in 2022, the King Street Food Company concept instantly raised the bar for neighborhood dining. Backed by the same culinary lineage as Michelin-recommended Buca, the show-stopping two-storey space — complete with soaring ceilings, terrazzo floors, and warm oak accents — became an immediate hit.

There is a small caveat worth keeping in mind before you start gathering your dinner crew. The restaurant group hasn’t dropped a formal reopening announcement on their main channels just yet, which means October 19 could be a hopeful target rather than an officially confirmed launch date. OpenTable has a menu listing live as well, though it remains a fun mystery whether we are looking at the classic lineup or a shiny new culinary direction for the grand reboot.

Either way, local pasta lovers are keeping their fingers crossed for the return of those famous handmade dishes, warm focaccia di Recco, and smoky specialties roasted inside their signature charcoal and wood-fired oven.

Anyone eager to snag one of the very first seats back can check the OpenTable calendar right now for table availability, while keeping a close eye on Cucina Buca’s main site for the final, official green light.
