Sony Pictures announced during CinemaCon 2026 an animated feature based on FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed Bloodborne game. The movie will also be produced by popular YouTuber Seán William McLoughlin, better known as Jacksepticeye.
Sony Pictures kicked off the Las Vegas event on April 13 with a big slate of announcements, starting with a teaser scene from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Among other news, The Legend of Zelda movie has wrapped up filming, but that’s probably not what video game fans are most excited about. FromSoftware’s 2015 action-RPG masterpiece, Bloodborne, will become an animated feature, and superfan McLoughin is attached to produce.
The YouTuber and internet personality shared a message with fans of the franchise, stating: “I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it.”
Bloodborne is one of the highest-rated video games of all time, standing at the top of many players’ lists. Produced by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the Dark Souls series, it stands out from other FromSoftware games due to its gothic setting and the use of modern weaponry. Despite its success, Bloodborne never blossomed into a full franchise like the Dark Souls series, so fans are understandably eager for more content.
Jacksepticeye’s attachment to the project comes on the heels of his colleague and friend Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach’s success with Iron Lung, a feature film based on the horror game of the same name. Bloodborne obviously has a large following of its own, but the involvement of a public figure who has repeatedly expressed his attachment to the game can only be beneficial to the project.
Lyrical Media, parent company of Lyrical Animation, is co-financing Bloodborne with Sony Pictures. No further details about the movie have been revealed at the moment.
