A massive three-day celebration of all things Japan is coming to Mississauga

4 August 20262 Mins Read

A massive celebration is set to take over Mississauga as Japan Festival Canada arrives at one of the city’s popular landmarks later this month.

The annual three-day event brings people together for a jam-packed weekend featuring live entertainment, food, shopping, and experiences that are synonymous with Japanese culture.

Since its launch in 2016, this free, annual festival has grown into one of the largest events of its kind in North America, giving people a taste of Japan without leaving the province.

Guests can expect everything from classic Japanese performances to modern twists on fan-favourite cuisine, as well as a dedicated marketplace, where you can shop local vendors on day one of the festival.

The remainder of the weekend will be full of main stage entertainment and smaller activations for everyone to enjoy.

Like every year, Japan Festival Canada will host a stellar line-up of performers to transport audiences to the Land of the Rising Sun. This year’s headliner is Japanese singer and voiceover artist Aika Kobayashi, who will also be hosting a meet-and-greet for fans.

While this is a separate event outside Japan Festival Canada, organizers are inviting fans to meet the international star on Aug. 15 at Hazel McCallion Central Library, starting at 11 a.m. This is a ticketed event that starts at $54.58 and can be purchased online.

Of course, there will be additional entertainment provided by local artists on the main stage at the festival. A complete list of performers and the itinerary can be found on the event’s official website.

The festivities begin with the Marketplace on Aug. 14, from 5 to 10 p.m. The full festival runs Aug. 15, from noon to 11 p.m., and Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Japan Festival Canada takes place at Celebration Square, located at 300 City Centre Dr., in Mississauga, Ont.
