Toronto’s pizza scene is getting a big addition. Pizza Nostra, which earned a rare 8.0 score on Barstool Sports’ One Bite reviews, is officially crossing over into Toronto. The family-run shop is set to open its doors at 802 The Queensway in Etobicoke.
While the new outpost isn’t listed on their website yet, one of the owners confirmed the news over the phone.
“So many people have been bugging us to open in the city,” the owner shared, explaining why they finally decided to expand across municipal lines and settle on Etobicoke. As for when pizza lovers can get their hands on a pie? “We are hoping to open in December.”
Brothers Marco and Andrea Grande, along with Marco’s wife Lilly, opened Pizza Nostra back in 2015. The brothers started out working at their father Rosario’s butcher shop on Jane Street. Marco brought that butcher background to the restaurant, making his own sausages and preparing cured meats in-house. Andrea learned the pizza business while running his cousin’s shop in New Jersey, honing a recipe for classic East Coast pies. Together, they focus on small-batch pizzas made with ingredients prepared by hand.
Local regulars love their New Jersey-style thin crusts and thick Sicilian squares, especially popular picks like the Vodka Pepperoni and the Marco Special. The shop caught widespread attention when Dave Portnoy visited during his GTA tour. His 8.0 score put Pizza Nostra in elite territory alongside heavy hitters like North of Brooklyn, Badiali and Descendant.
Etobicoke residents will soon be able to grab 16-inch pies, Sicilian deep-dish slabs, and quick lunch slices close to home. If all goes according to plan, locals won’t have to wait past December to try it.
