That’s where many AI conversations go off track. The best uses of AI aren’t the ones that create entirely new processes. They’re the ones that fit naturally into the work you’re already doing and make it easier, faster, or more effective.

The goal of AI should not be to add work. It should be to remove it.

The better AI question

A lot of hotels start with the question, “How should we use AI?” The problem is that it’s usually too broad to be useful. It often leads to tool comparisons, brainstorming sessions, and a lot of excitement without clear direction.

A better question is: Where is work slowing you down?

Maybe your team spends too much time starting website content from scratch. Maybe SEO updates keep getting pushed aside. Maybe reporting takes longer than it should, but still doesn’t clearly tell you what to do next. Maybe you aren’t sure how AI platforms are describing your hotel, or whether they are recommending you at all.

Those are workflow challenges, and that’s where AI creates value. Not by replacing your team, but by reducing friction around the tasks they already perform every day.

For hotel marketers, those opportunities generally fall into three areas: Get Found, Get It Done, and Get Smarter.

Get Found: help AI understand your hotel

Before a guest can book your hotel, they need to find it. What’s changing is how discovery happens.

Travelers are relying more heavily on AI-generated recommendations as part of their research process. Instead of searching for “hotels in Charleston,” they might ask for the best boutique hotel for a couples getaway near restaurants and nightlife. AI is no longer simply matching keywords; it’s interpreting intent and recommending options.

That means hotels aren’t just competing for rankings anymore. They’re competing to be understood.

AI can help marketers better understand how their hotel is being represented, where it is showing up, and where it is missing from relevant recommendations. Instead of relying on guesswork, teams can focus on improving the signals that help AI understand who they are, what they offer, and when they should be recommended.

The goal isn’t more work. It’s better visibility with less guesswork.

Get it done: use AI where the work already happens

Many marketers think of AI primarily as a content generator, but its real value is reducing repetitive work.

Website pages still need updates. Campaigns still need content. SEO still requires attention. The work hasn’t changed, but the way it’s completed can.

AI can help create a stronger starting point. It can generate a first draft, assist with metadata, summarize information, or help repurpose existing content. Instead of spending hours getting started, teams can focus on refining, improving, and adding the human insight that makes marketing effective.

That’s the difference between using AI as a shortcut and using it as support.

A shortcut replaces thinking. Support removes friction.

The strongest AI workflows aren’t separate from the work. They’re integrated into it, helping teams move faster without sacrificing quality.

Get smarter: turn data into direction

Most hotel marketers aren’t lacking data. They’re lacking time.

Between website analytics, campaign reports, booking performance, and marketing metrics, information isn’t the problem. The challenge is knowing what matters most and what to do next.

This is another area where AI should remove work, not add another layer of complexity.

A useful AI workflow helps surface patterns, summarize information, and highlight opportunities that deserve attention. Instead of spending hours collecting and organizing data, teams can spend more time acting on it.

The value isn’t in having more reports. It’s in getting clearer direction.

When AI helps connect visibility, website performance, and booking outcomes, marketers can make decisions faster and with greater confidence.

Start with one workflow

One of the biggest misconceptions about AI is that you have to transform everything at once.

You don’t.

The best place to start is with one repeatable task that slows your team down. Maybe it’s writing website copy. Maybe it’s reviewing performance data. Maybe it’s understanding how AI platforms are describing your property.

Pick one workflow and look for ways AI can remove friction from that process.

That’s how meaningful adoption happens. Not through sweeping changes, but through small improvements that compound over time.

The bottom line

The hotels that get the most value from AI won’t be the ones using the most tools. They’ll be the ones using AI intentionally in the places where it makes work easier, faster, and more connected.
