A two-day festival is taking over these scenic parks in Metro Vancouver this summer

9 June 20263 Mins Read

Summer is nearly here, which means we’ve got a couple of stat holidays on our radar, one of them being B.C. Day this August. Celebrate BC is back for its second year, this time with a two-day festival dedicated to bringing communities across Metro Vancouver together for an accessible, lively event.

“Celebrate BC is a wonderful opportunity for people to come together and recognize what makes our province so special,” shares Premier David Eby. “Events like this reflect the strength of our communities, the richness of our cultures, and the pride we share as British Columbians. I want to extend my best wishes to everyone involved in organizing this year’s festival and to all those who will take part.”

The free-to-attend community event has a renewed focus on accessibility this year, which means every food vendor will have at least one $10 menu item available.

The family festival will take place at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody on Aug. 1, and at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park on Aug. 3.

In Port Moody, festival-goers can expect a community-focused experience, including a blueberry pancake breakfast and the opportunity to participate in canoe paddle adventures that highlight the region’s waterways and cultural heritage. There will also be an Indigenous Market with traditional Bannock and live stage performances to check out.

B.C.’s largest wild salmon barbecue

At Town Centre Park, the festival will be scaled up with B.C.’s largest wild salmon barbecue, corgi and wiener dog races, live music, cultural performances, diverse food vendors, interactive art installations, and the Beautiful BC Photo Contest by Sony.

For the latter, all are welcome to submit their favourite photos of B.C.’s beautiful landscapes and communities for recognition at the event.

“Celebrate BC is about connection – bringing people together to recognize what we share as British Columbians, while celebrating the diversity that strengthens our communities,” says S.U.C.C.E.S.S. CEO Queenie Choo. “At a time when affordability matters more than ever, it’s important that families have opportunities like this to come together and feel part of something bigger.”

Another festival highlight this year includes a performance by Juno Award-winning artist George Leach to cap off the festivities on Aug. 3.

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for more programming details to come!

When: Aug. 1 and Aug. 3, 2026
Time: TBA
Where: Rocky Point Park — 2800 Murray St., Port Moody; and Town Centre Park — 1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam
Cost: Free admission
