Abercrombie & Fitch is returning to Calgary with a new CF Chinook Centre location

Walking through CF Chinook Centre lately, it’s hard not to notice something new starting to pop up. Abercrombie & Fitch is quietly reappearing in the space, and it’s getting people talking again.

While there’s no official announcement regarding when the store will open, there’s already signage in place at the mall and recent online hiring listings, which point to the early stages of a potential return for the brand in Calgary.

A return to CF Chinook Centre

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Wait… Didn’t we already have this?” you’re absolutely right. Abercrombie & Fitch previously operated a store in CF Chinook Centre that closed in 2023.

According to Abercrombie & Fitch, the closer was part of a broader shift in the brand’s physical retail strategy across North America, as many retailers adjusted store formats and locations post-pandemic.

Since then, Abercrombie has been expanding across Canada, focusing on a refreshed store design and a stronger in-person shopping experience.

After walking through Chinook Centre over the weekend, I couldn’t help but notice signage already up on Level 1 beside the Wilfred. Unlike its previous location near Urban Outfitters, the new placement is in a significantly higher-traffic area of the mall, making it more prominent to shoppers passing through.

Additionally, several job postings have appeared on the Abercrombie & Fitch website for the Calgary location, including roles such as store manager, brand representative, and other retail positions, suggesting that early hiring is underway.

As of right now, Alberta has only one Abercrombie & Fitch location, at West Edmonton Mall. It recently opened in fall 2025 with an elevated store design that reflects the brand’s updated retail direction.
