After 175 Years, Ghirardelli Launches Its First Ready-to-Eat Cookie Line

7 October 20263 Mins Read

Ghirardelli has something sweet in store for shoppers, tucked away in the cookie aisle.

The 175-year-old company is best known for its chocolate squares and indulgent in-store treats, but it has also long been a fan-favorite baking brand across the country, taking the No. 2 title in 2011. All these decades later, it’s still managing to whip up something fresh on a regular basis, debuting a raved about Milk Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix earlier this year and now its debut packaged cookie line.

If you think the Ghirardelli Crispy Cookies sound like something that’s already on shelves, you’re probably confusing it with the refrigerated cookie doughs that it launched at Walmart this past summer. Its latest product drop is actually Ghirardelli’s entrance into the snacking format, marking its first-ever ready-to-eat cookie and a “new chapter for Ghirardelli.”

“At Ghirardelli, we’ve always believed that everything tastes better when made with Ghirardelli,” Bobby Oliver, vice president and head of marketing at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, teased in a statement. “Cookies are one of those simple, familiar treats people reach for every day, and we saw an opportunity to make that experience distinctly Ghirardelli by bringing the quality and delicious chocolate taste consumers know and love to the cookie aisle.”

“Entering the cookie category marks an exciting new chapter for Ghirardelli and an important step in how we continue to grow the brand and be a part of consumers’ lives,” Oliver concluded.

Ghirardelli Is Heading to the Cookie Aisle With 2 Chocolatey Flavors

According to the Oct. 7 press release, the new line pairs Ghirardelli chocolate with “quality ingredients” (a detailed ingredient list was not immediately available) to deliver a “satisfying crunch, golden-tan toasted edges and rich chocolate in every bite.”

The collection will debut in two classic, chocolatey flavors: Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate. Both will be available in 6.3-ounce packages, containing 10 cookies each.

  • Classic Chocolate Chip Crispy Cookies: Made with Ghirardelli chocolate chips as the #1 ingredient, these classic chocolate chip cookies balance buttery cookie notes with vanilla and brown sugar sweetness.
  • Double Chocolate Crispy Cookies: Crafted with Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips and a blend of Ghirardelli cocoa powder and chocolate in the dough, these decadent cookies deliver the ultimate cookie experience for chocolate lovers.

Ghirardelli said its new Crispy Cookies collection is now available on its official website and is expected to be on Kroger shelves beginning Sunday, October 11, and in Walmart stores across the country beginning Saturday, October 24 before heading out to additional retailers in January 2027.
