Heartstopper is back – and this time it’s getting the movie treatment.
Based on Alice Oseman’s hit graphic novels, the Netflix series first launched in 2022 and made global stars out of its young cast, winning over a legion of fans.
Heartstopper Forever adapts the fourth and final book in the series, with star-crossed lovers Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) facing their toughest challenges yet.
Here’s all you need to know about Heartstopper Forever and it’s filming locations.
What happens in Heartstopper Forever?
The movie picks up directly from the end of series three, with Nick deliberating over his university options and reluctant to leave Charlie behind.
Meanwhile, Charlie embraces his new role as head boy at Truham School, committed to tackling homophobic bullying and creating a safe space for younger students.
Elsewhere, Tao and Elle try to navigate their own long-distance relationship, while Tara and Darcy contemplate if university is the right decision for their future.
Heartstopper Forever filming locations
Heartstopper Forever returns to some of the most memorable locations from the series, alongside some new sites.
An abandoned school was used throughout the series
Once again, Burnham Park Academy stood in for the fictional Truham School, as well as the sports field seen for Nick’s rugby match.
Heartstopper Forever opens in the school’s hall, with Charlie delivering an election speech to become Head Boy.
The Buckinghamshire school closed in 2019 due to low student numbers, but found a new lease of life as the home of Heartstopper.
Herne Bay Pier is a site of passion and heartbreak
Nick and Charlie head to the beach after celebrating Charlie landing the role of head boy.
The trip takes place in the dead of night, with the pair getting a little frisky at the end of the pier, with Charlie Spring actor Joe Locke dubbing it ‘a pier job’ in a recent interview.
Later on in the film, the boys return to the beach to fix their strained relationship, but this time it’s all PG-friendly, with fairground rides and smooching in a photo booth.
A Hammersmith pub is where the drama kick starts
Scenes set at the fictional Green Dragon were filmed at Hope & Anchor, a pub in Hammersmith, west London.
Set during Christmas, this is where Nick and Charlie have one of their first major arguments after a few too many festive drinks.
A Windsor café stands in as Charlie’s coffee shop
Millar’s Eatery in Windsor is about to become a hotspot for Heartstopper fans.
It stands in for The Rainy Day Café, where Charlie works a part-time job as a barista. It’s in this location that British acting royalty Derek Jacobi makes a cameo appearance.
The boys return to Burnham Park for an anniversary picnic
To celebrate their second anniversary, Nick and Charlie return to Burnham Park, the site where they had one of their first dates.
The distinct fallen tree where the pair share a picnic has since become a hotspot for Heartstopper fans, and Truham Row, a pathway of trees funded by the filming, was planted in February 2026.
Slough’s Burnham High Street hosts the huge Pride celebration
One of the most poignant and powerful scenes in Heartstopper Forever, is also the most celebratory.
Despite the friendship group nursing a mix of heartbreak and teenage angst, they unite to march in the local Pride event, with trans student Elle (Yasmin Finney) taking centre stage as the group chant for trans rights.
There’s a brief cameo from Bradley Riches, reprising his role of Truham student James.
Slough Ice Arena is where the sibling heart-to-heart chat takes place
Towards the climax of the movie, Charlie and sister Tori visit the ice rink where her boyfriend Michael is training for the Olympics.
Sitting in the stalls (seats 16 and 17 in row BC, to be exact), the siblings have a heart-to-heart debrief over their relationships.
Nick and Charlie reunite in Leeds for a big night out
In the movie’s epilogue, we catch up with Nick and Charlie in the near future, following Nick’s move to university.
Filming took place across Leeds, including City Square, Leeds Station, and the University of Leeds, where the couple are reunited.
After meeting all of Nick’s new uni pals, the pair head off for a night out across Leeds’ gay district, taking in a bar crawl covering venues including Viaduct, Fibre and Queens Court.
Another reunion takes place in Berlin
The epilogue also shows Tao visiting on-off girlfriend Elle, who has moved to Berlin to study art.
Tao is seen walking through the central Alexanderplatz district, with the iconic TV Tower looming large over the Berlin skyline.
Who is in the Heartstopper Forever cast?
The gang are back, with Joe Locke (Marvel’s Agatha All Along) and Kit Connor (Warfare, Rocketman) returning as Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson.
The friendship circle is all back, with William Gao and Yasmin Finney as Tao and Elle, with their relationship under strain now that Elle is studying in Berlin. Tobie Donovan returns as bookworm Isaac, who discovered his asexuality in the last series.
Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin steps in to replace Olivia Colman in the role of Sarah, Nick’s mum, as she guides him through some major life changes.
Jenny Walser returns as Tori, Charlie’s older sister, with Darragh Hand back as Michael, her ice skater boyfriend.
Eddie Marsan (Back to Black) reprises his role as therapist Geoff, a lifeline to Charlie in some of the movie’s darkest moments.
