Bass Pro Shops has entered into an agreement to acquire Cheeca Lodge & Spa, a historic fishing and sporting resort in Islamorada, Florida Keys. The sale price was not disclosed. Cheeca Lodge & Spa has long served as a destination for anglers and visitors to the region.
The acquisition will unite Cheeca Lodge & Spa with the neighboring World Wide Sportsman Store & Marina, which provides access to Florida Bay, the Everglades, and the Gulf Stream. The Islamorada Fish Company, Morada Bay, and Pierre’s restaurants are located adjacent to the World Wide Sportsman Store & Marina.
Cheeca Lodge & Spa offers a variety of accommodations, including lodges and cottages, some with direct oceanfront views. Amenities include three swimming pools, a full-service spa, a 9-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed par-3 golf course, a 525-foot fishing pier, fitness and meeting facilities, tennis and pickleball courts, and waterfront dining venues.
World Wide Sportsman Store & Marina was founded in 1967 by George Hommell Jr. and Billy Pate and is recognized for its focus on saltwater fishing and conservation in the Florida Keys. Bass Pro Shops and World Wide Sportsman aligned nearly 30 years ago.
