‘Boarding Action’ skulls and terminal locations in Halo Campaign Evolved

30 July 20263 Mins Read

The “Boarding Action” mission in Halo: Campaign Evolved has three skulls and one terminal to find, the same as every other mission in the game, but it also offers something unique: it’s the first of three levels that are brand new to Campaign Evolved and haven’t featured in any of the previous iterations of this 2001 classic. It features Master Chief and Sergeant Avery Johnson exploring a Covenant mothership, trying to learn more about the enemy they face, in events set approximately one year before the main game.

If you’re hunting for all the collectibles, here’s where you can find the three skulls and one terminal during “Boarding Action” in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

  • Description: Upon respawn a random element of your HUD no longer appears.
  • Objective: Infiltrate the Covenant research ship with Johnson to collect its nav data.

Play through the mission until you encounter a pair of hunters with white armor. Once you’ve dealt with them, rather than following the objective marker, look to the right-hand side of where you entered that part of the ship and you’ll find another path. Below it is a seraph, a Covenant fighter ship.

Drop down to where the Seraph is, and then proceed through the door behind it. On your right will be a turret, with a walkway behind that. The Malfunction skull is in the middle of the walkway.

Skull 2: Johnny Ammo Seed

  • Description: When reloading, you lose the ammo remaining in the discarded clip.
  • Objective: Infiltrate the Covenant research ship with Johnson to collect its nav data.

Eventually, the environment will go from purple to white and gold, and when this happens, you want to take note of the second large room you enter. It has a purple gravity tube crossing horizontally, for reference. Clear all the enemies here (watch out for the cloaked elites with energy swords), then when they’re defeated, climb the ramp at the back then turn around and head back the way you came, this time on the next floor up.

You’ll find two doorways at the back of the room: take the one on the left. When you exit back into the first white and gold room, a group of elites will emerge from a door in front of you. Defeat all of them, then walk forwards and there’ll be a curved walkway emerging towards the center of the room. The Johnny Ammo Seed skull is in the middle of it.

  • Description: Headshots no longer provide extra damage or instant kills.
  • Objective: Head for the Triumph of Tolerance’s upper decks.

Later on in the mission, you’ll come to a room where, once the waves of enemies have been cleared, Sgt. Johnson will activate the gravity lift. However, look behind the gravity lift and to the left for a doorway that was closed when you entered the room, but is now open. Head through here, take a left down the corridor, and you’ll find the Leadhead skull at the end.

Terminal: The Path

  • Objective: Head for the Triumph of Tolerance’s upper decks.

Immediately after you go up the gravity lift, turn around and go through the door at the back of the room on the right-hand side. The terminal will be just inside the door.
