Calgary is getting a 90-minute Halloween bar experience with games and photo ops

7 October 20263 Mins Read

The Nightmare Bar is coming to Calgary this month, so if you’ve been looking for a Halloween event that isn’t a haunted house or pumpkin patch, this might be more your speed.

The 90-minute experience will take over Limericks Traditional Public House on Macleod Trail and fill it with spooky decor, music, games and a special drinks menu.

If this sounds like your kind of plan, here’s everything you need to know before you go, including ticket prices, timing, and what you’ll see while you’re there.

What to expect at The Nightmare Bar

What can I do at The Nightmare Bar?

During your 90-minute session, you’ll have a chance to take part in games and challenges, and you could walk away with prizes. The bar itself will also be transformed with Halloween decor, music, and photo ops.

When you need a break from the games, you can order from a special Nightmare Bar drinks menu, and your ticket includes one complimentary drink. Food and additional drinks are also available for purchase.

If you have a costume you’ve been wanting to wear, this is your time to shine. Costumes are encouraged, so feel free to dress up for the night.

Just leave any realistic weapons or dangerous props at home, and make sure that your costume doesn’t completely obscure your identity.

When is The Nightmare Bar running?

The event will run on select dates from Thursday, Oct. 8 to Saturday, Oct. 31, with sessions at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. Each session will run for 90 minutes.

Where is The Nightmare Bar?

The Nightmare Bar is taking over Limerick’s Traditional Public House in southwest Calgary, on MacLeod Trail. Free parking will be available at the back of the restaurant, but if you’re planning on drinking, make sure you have a safe ride home.

How much are tickets?

Early bird tickets are currently $15 plus fees and include a complimentary welcome drink. You can also upgrade to VIP for $9.99 plus fees. If you want to skip the line, you can also add a Queue Jump upgrade for $6.90 plus fees.

According to organizers, tickets are non-refundable, although rescheduling may be available for an additional fee depending on availability.

Since this is an 18+ event, you’ll also need to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID.

Is seating guaranteed?

Seating will not be guaranteed during the event, but VIP ticket holders will have a guaranteed seat. General Admission guests can still use available seating, but it will be first come, first served.

If having a table for your group is important, organizers recommend upgrading to a VIP ticket.

The Nightmare Bar is only running for a limited time, so take a look at the dates, grab your tickets, and start planning your next night out!

When: Running on select evenings from Thursday, Oct. 8 to Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026
Time: Time slots at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m.
Where: Limericks Traditional Public House – 7304 Macleod Trl., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Early Bird Pricing: $15 plus fees
