Calgary patios every soccer fan should check out during the FIFA World Cup

18 June 20264 Mins Read

The FIFA World Cup excitement is taking over Calgary, and one of the best ways to catch the action is from the city’s top patios. And with Canada set to play its second game of the tournament against Qatar this evening, there’s no better time to catch the game with a drink in hand and soak up the energy around the city.

So, whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan or just love a good patio moment, Calgary is packed with outdoor spots perfect for catching the game with a crowd.

We’ve rounded up some of the top patios in the city so you can skip the scrolling and head straight to your nearest spot to watch all of the action unfold.

Without further ado, let’s jump into it.

Elephant and Castle in Calgary’s Beltine is built for World Cup watching, with every FIFA World Cup match shown live across more than 22 indoor and patio TV’s, plus full stadium sound.

The pub runs on first-come, first-served seating during match times, with no reservations, so arriving early is key to securing a spot.

When: Streaming all matches until July 19th
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: 1503 4th St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free to enter

The patio at the Ship and Anchor is one of the most popular patio spots in the city. Fans quickly fill up the outdoor patio space to catch all the action on the big screens.

One of the best parts is that select daytime events are minor-friendly, making it one of the few spots where younger fans have the opportunity to join in on the action.

When: Streaming all matches until July 19th
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: 534 17th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free to visit

Jameson’s Pub is situated along 17th Avenue in the heart of Calgary’s Beltline. The patio sits right on one of the city’s busiest streets, so every goal and save gets met with a wave of reactions from both the patio and the sidewalk crowd passing by.

The space opens early for select matches with drink specials like $7.50 Michelob Ultras, which help keep the energy going right from the start.

When: Streaming all matches until July 19th
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: 1230 17th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free to visit

Side Street Pub and Grill is located in the heart of Kensington, drawing steady foot traffic and filling up quickly during key matches. They have plenty of match-day offers, including a $10 burger along with rotating half-price wings and pizza specials.

During select games, the pub also runs giveaways with prizes such as jerseys, soccer balls, and a Smirnoff foosball table.

When: Streaming all matches until July 19th
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: 1167 Kensington Cres. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free to visit

Located in Calgary’s historic First Station No. 3, built in 1906, The Hose and Hound sits right in the heart of Inglewood along 9th Avenue. The space opens up into two large patios, giving fans plenty of outdoor seating to catch all the matches while overlooking one of Calgary’s most historic streets.

When: Streaming all matches until July 19th
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: 1030 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free to visit

It’s safe to say that one of the best ways to soak up all the FIFA World Cup energy in Calgary is outside on a patio with a crowd. Save this one for later if you’re still figuring out where to catch the action, and check back as we add more spots across the city.

See you on the patios, Calgary!
