A little magic will be arriving soon in North Carolina when Disney celebrates the opening of its second Storyliving by Disney community, Asteria. Built around “curiosity, connection, and exploration,” Asteria is inspired by the natural beauty of North Carolina. And Disney has now shared a first look at its entryway, pairing Disney storytelling with the stunning Carolina landscape.

“Like the broader community, the entryway at Asteria is designed with creative guidance from Walt Disney Imagineering to reflect the natural beauty and character of North Carolina’s Piedmont region,” Disney shared in a press release. “The land helps set the stage with topography that rises just beyond the entry before gently falling, creating a subtle reveal.”
Disney sourced stone directly from the site to use, including metavolcanic rock, quartz and rhyolite. The entryway will be constructed using the regional tradition of dry stacking and its signature element will be a moon gate, a type of arched gateway that frames the oncoming landscape, creating a magical reveal moment.

”That same attention to detail will continue throughout Asteria, where landscape, architecture, and community gathering spaces are being designed to encourage exploration and connection with a touch of Disney magic,” Disney shared. “Across the community, residents will find design details and shared spaces that reflect the natural setting and invite everyday moments of discovery.”

Asteria follows the first Storyliving by Disney community, Cotino in Rancho Mirage, just outside of Palm Springs, California. On track to open Fall 2027, the 1,500-acre Imagineer-designed residential community will feature single-family homes, condos and Peter Pan-themed rental cottages. There will also be sections specifically reserved for adults aged 55 and old.
Connection is at the heart of the community with Never Land-inspired amenities, including the Second Star Club and Aster Green. The sprawling campus also features a two-story restaurant and social hub, Marquet Hall, and The Studios, inspired by local craftsman traditions of quilting and woodworking. There will also be plenty of recreation opportunities for residents, including pickleball courts, pools and a wellness center.
The upcoming community is located in Chatham County, east of Pittsboro, and homes are now on sale.
