The wait is over: the remake of the Dragon Ball Super anime, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, finally has a release date. The long-awaited next entry in the Dragon Ball franchise will debut on Fuji TV on Oct. 11. Fans in the US will be able to catch a world-premiere screening of the first episode on Oct. 8 at New York Comic Con 2026, during the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus special panel.
A new “super surge trailer” accompanied the announcement, giving Dragon Ball fans the first extensive look at what the remake will look like. It’s safe to say that Toei Animation did not disappoint: The trailer showcases the high-quality visuals everybody expected from this remake, and also sheds light on how long the anime will be and which arcs it will cover.
New Dragon Ball Super: Beerus trailer tells us how long the anime will be
The Dragon Ball Super canon is a bit muddled due to the juxtaposition of three main sources: the movies, the anime, and the manga. While the story is more or less consistent across the three media, there are also small differences that matter to fans. Moreover, it wasn’t yet clear just how much of the story this anime remake would cover, until now. Based on the footage shown in the trailer, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will cover the God of Destruction Beerus arc, the Resurrection ‘F’ arc, and the God of Destruction Champa arc (note that the names for the story arcs may vary between the manga and anime). Essentially, it will cover the first two Dragon Ball Super movies (Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’) and the first 46 episodes of the anime (excluding fillers, hopefully!)
The trailer also revealed the anime’s opening and ending themes: “Onogami” by Megatera – Zero and “Kan Peki No Peki” by VK Blanka. While fans will miss the iconic opening theme of the original anime, “Chosetsu Dynamic!”, the new songs from these young Japanese artists convey the same sense of energy and excitement, and overall contribute to giving Dragon Ball Super: Beerus a fresh vibe.
In terms of differences, fans noticed that in the trailer scenes showing Goku’s battle against Frieza, the protagonist uses his Super Saiyan God form before transforming into Super Saiyan Blue, a detail that was missing from the Resurrection ‘F’ movie. It may not seem like much, but true Dragon Ball fans live and die for these small details, so this makes the expectations around Dragon Ball Super: Beerus even higher.
Interestingly, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is set to air on Fuji TV in the same time slot as One Piece. The anime based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga has recently switched to a seasonal release schedule, with 26 episodes set to air every year. It’s possible, then, that the two anime will alternate on Fuji TV, marking a significant shift from the past, when both were ongoing weekly productions.
Fans will get their first chance to watch Dragon Ball Super: Beerus at New York Comic Con 2026 on Oct. 8. The panel will be hosted by Jason Douglas (English dub voice of Beerus), Ian Sinclair (English dub voice of Whis), and Monica Rial (English dub voice of Bulma). After the official debut in Japan on Oct. 11, it’s very likely that the anime will start airing on Crunchyroll, too.
One thing that remains to be determined is what comes after Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. We know that the Galactic Patrol arc (aka the Moro arc) is in the works, but it’s unclear whether this will come right after Beerus or not.
