Picture: East of Eden (Limited Series) is now available to stream on Netflix
Netflix UK kicks off October with an impressive 38 new titles. This week’s must-watch highlights include a star-studded adaptation of John Steinbeck’s East of Eden led by Florence Pugh, the milestone 15th Tyler Perry project for Netflix, Doing Life, and the special two-part LEGO One Piece.
First of all, here are the week’s highlights:
Oct 1
East of Eden
The family ties in Netflix’s tragic new period drama extend far beyond the plot itself. Series writer and producer Zoe Kazan is actually the second person in her family to tackle John Steinbeck’s novel, following her grandfather’s famous 1955 adaptation. Anchored by Florence Pugh’s immense star power, this highly anticipated series is bound to attract a massive audience.
Set in California’s Salinas Valley from the Civil War to World War I, this epic intertwines the Trask and Hamilton families, mirroring the biblical tragedies of Adam and Eve, and Cain and Abel. The story follows the gentle Adam Trask, his volatile brother Charles, and Adam’s marriage to manipulative Cathy Ames. Ultimately, the burden of this dark heritage falls to Adam’s twin sons, Aron and Caleb, who fiercely compete for their father’s love and approval.

LEGO ONE PIECE
It’s time to set sail with the Straw Hat Pirates once more… but in LEGO form! Relive the story so far, told by the world’s most beloved unreliable narrator, Usopp, as he weaves a dashing, heroic tale (with splashes of creative license) of the Straw Hats from Romance Dawn to Drum Island.

Doing Life
It is hard to name a filmmaker more consistently active on Netflix right now than Tyler Perry. With the arrival of Doing Life, Perry hits a massive streaming milestone: his 15th project produced exclusively for the service.
A gritty and gripping urban drama that explores the life of a single mother fighting for survival and a reformed ex-con with untapped talents who forge an unexpected bond. They find in each other an unlikely second chance.
