Heated Rivalry star Sophie Nélisse, who plays Rose Landry on the hit Crave series, has been in Toronto filming the show’s second season, but recently took some time away from set to check out Brodflour, a popular bakery known for its freshly milled flour, sandwiches and pastries.
Unfortunately, her first visit didn’t exactly live up to the hype.
In a TikTok video shared last week, Nélisse documented her long-awaited bakery visit with her best friend Joe, and let’s just say she wasn’t super impressed.
First up was the $8.50 egg breakfast sandwich, made with an English muffin, chive aioli, cheddar cheese, arugula and tomato. While Joe thought it was practically perfect, Nélisse had a few complaints.
“I feel like it’s a little dry,” she said, explaining that she prefers her eggs runnier or scrambled. “I feel like it needs a bit more sauce.”
Things didn’t improve much with the porchetta BLT, which hadn’t been heated and, according to Nélisse, had too much bread.
“People have never seen me so disappointed in food,” she admitted. The Canadian actress is no stranger to sharing her food discoveries on social media, and is always recommending restaurants and bakeries during her travels. So, her latest Toronto food adventure didn’t exactly go according to plan.”
“I’m always like ecstatic, but I’m just very like meh.”
Dessert was a mixed bag. The coffee got her approval, and the $4.35 cardamom knot was good, but apparently not good enough to justify the trip.
“This is good but I wouldn’t walk 45 minutes from my house to go eat this,” she said.
The $5 hot chocolate fared even worse. “This is so mid,” Nélisse said, comparing it to the rich hot chocolate she’s used to drinking in Paris.

There were a couple of bright spots, though! She enjoyed the salted chocolate chip cookie, and the butter tart finally earned some genuine enthusiasm.
“OK, this is actually really good,” she said of the tart, commenting on its flaky crust and rich filling.
Still, after waiting nearly a month to visit, she couldn’t help feeling a bit underwhelmed.
“Maybe I’m just in a bad mood today. I’m impossible to please,” she joked, adding that she was open to coming back if someone wanted her to try different things’
Fans quickly jumped into the comments with recommendations for other tasty menu items.
“When you do go back, get the focaccia pizza!!” one user commented, white another said “Their smoked salmon sandwich is worth the 45m walk from your house I’d say.”
And apparently, the universe was listening. Nélisse returned to Brodflour over the weekend after discovering that she was filming right next to the bakery! Taking it as a sign, she ran over between takes to give the place another chance.
This time, she showed up at 7:30 a.m., when everything was fresh, and the experience couldn’t have been more different.
First up was the $14 turkey sandwich, made with roast turkey, gouda, house-made aioli and onion relish on a sourdough baguette.
“I already know this is going to be so much better,” she said, noting the warm bread and melted cheese before taking a bite.
“Oh actually this looks bomb,” she added, eventually declaring it “really good.”
Next came the ham and cheese croissant, which might have been the biggest surprise of all.
“This is insane,” she said. “It feels like I’m making this up just because I feel so bad because I gave them such a bad review last time.”
She praised the balance of sweet and salty flavours, adding that having the food served warm made a huge difference.
“I’m having a way more enjoyable experience than last time.”

By the time she tried her final pastry, which appeared to be a chocolate croissant, the ‘rivalry was officially over.
“It’s so good. It’s so good. I completely changed my stance, all of these three items were amazing,” she said.
And just like that, Brodflour had won her over.
“I’m sorry I gave this place so much hate last time, I actually really do recommend going here,” she concluded, suggesting that people arrive early or make sure their sandwiches are heated.
“I’m not a hater anymore.”
