The country-music festival originated in Ontario, and last year it announced it would be coming to Alberta for the first time ever. With headliners like Russell Dickerson and Shaboozey, the festival is bringing all the energy out into the wild west.
Ahead of the exciting event, we’ve rounded up all the important information to keep in mind before putting on your cowboy boots. So, without further ado, let’s jump into the details.
Here’s everything to know about Boots and Hearts West
When is Boots and Hearts West taking place?
The upcoming festival will be taking place over the weekend on Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29. On both days, gates open at 3 p.m., and the event itself ends at 11 p.m.
Where is it being held?
You’ll be heading down to Fan Park in the ICE District for this event.
What’s the best way to get there and where can I park?
There are three transportation methods recommended by the festival: transit, rideshare or taxi, and driving and parking nearby.
Transit users, you’ll be able to find the MacEwan and Churchill LRT Stations as well as several bus routes nearby. If you’re looking at rideshare, there are several drop-off zones within the ICE District.
For those choosing to drive, there are paid parkades and lots in and around the area. The festival warns that parking is limited, and folks are recommended to carpool or use transit if possible.
What artists will be playing at Boots and Hearts West?
On Friday, you can expect Russell Dickerson to headline, with Max McNown, The Prairie States, and Tyler Joe Miller being some of the names on the supporting lineup.
As for Saturday, Shaboozey is headlining, but Midland, Zach McPhee, and Thelma & James are just some of the other artists featured this day.

Will there be food and drink?
Inside the festival, you’ll be able to find multiple food vendors (with vegan and vegetarian options available), a full bar service with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as free water refill stations around the grounds.
What payment methods are accepted?
According to the festival, all vendors will accept credit and debit or tap payments. Some vendors will accept cash, and there will be ATMs available on site.
Is re-entry into the festival allowed?
There is no re-entry. Once you leave the festival grounds, you will not be allowed to re-enter for the day.
When is last entry into the festival?
Last entry into the festival is at 9 p.m. on both days.
Is the festival rain or shine?
The festival will be rain or shine, with indoor and outdoor stages operating regardless of the weather. The festival notes that some outdoor areas may be covered, but come prepared for the forecasted weather.
What can I bring?
Besides your ID and ticket, you’re allowed to bring an empty, non-glass refillable water bottle or a sealed, factory-bottled water that’s no bigger than one litre. The festival is also allowing folks to bring a small bag, fanny pack, or purse, but it will be subject to search.
As for prohibited items, there’s a longer list:
- No alcohol or outside beverages (besides sealed water) allowed
- No drugs or illegal substances (Cannabis is only permitted in compliance with Alberta law and festival policy)
- No weapons, sharp objects, or projectiles
- No professional cameras, drones, or audio and video gear
- No GoPros or action cameras mounted on poles or selfie sticks
- No large backpacks, luggage, or duffel bags
- No laser pointers or glow sticks
- No large signs, totems, or inflatables
- No umbrellas, chairs, or blankets
- No fireworks, sparklers, or open flames
- No glass containers
- No flyers, posters, or unauthorized promo materials
- No animals (service animals will be allowed with documentation)
And, according to the festival’s website, any item deemed unsafe or disruptive by festival security will also be prohibited.
What types of tickets are available?
There are two types of tickets available: general admission (for single-day or two-day entry) and VIP admission (also for single-day or two-day entry).
The key differences between these ticket types are that general admission provides entry, while VIP also provides expedited entrance at the festival gates, exclusive viewing decks and suites, private washrooms, curated food options, and shaded, exclusive bars.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are on sale right now, and there are still some up for grabs.
You’ll find single-day general admission tickets costing $154.15, while two-day admission will run you $208.70. Those purchasing VIP tickets can expect to spend $259.95 for a one-day pass and $358.65 for a two-day pass.
