I tried a free trial with Fizz and the result was a game changer

11 May 20263 Mins Read

It feels like everything is expensive in Canada right now. So saving even a few bucks where you can feels like a small personal victory.

When I first moved to Canada four years ago, someone told me, “Welcome to the land of expensive phone bills.” At the time, I laughed it off, but honestly, they weren’t wrong! Changing phone plans can be one easy way to save a little, so I decided to put Fizz to the test.

Right now, Fizz is offering a 15-day free trial program designed for anyone who wants to try them out while keeping their current provider. This lets you try their network and features and make sure it’s a match for you before deciding to switch. All you need is Internet access and a compatible phone.

I’ve been trying it for a week now, and let’s just say I’ve been impressed so far.

Easy setup

Getting started with Fizz was refreshingly simple. All I had to do was sign up via its website and create an account. Just a few clicks and boom — my eSIM was activated in minutes. There was no credit card required and no commitment; you don’t need to worry about sneaky automatic renewals when the trial ends.

I received a temporary number, so it was easy to try alongside my existing provider without any disruption.

What to expect

The free trial included 3 GB of data, 100 minutes, and 100 texts. If I’m being completely real, using Fizz didn’t feel wildly different from any other phone plan. I could text, call my friends, and go about my day without thinking about it.

As someone who works remotely, I sometimes like to head to a local café to get some work done — but the Wi-Fi there isn’t always the best. I even used the trial to hotspot my laptop in a café, and it handled it without any issues. Streaming and scrolling felt smooth with no annoying buffering or lag, and I didn’t notice any drop-offs in my coverage throughout my day-to-day.

Nothing felt dramatically different, which, in a way, is kind of the point. It pretty much felt like the same experience as my current provider, but the difference is Fizz offers it all at a more affordable price point.

The provider also makes it very easy to get started and very easy to walk away from if it’s not for you. That alone removes a lot of stress!

Fizz perks

With flexible plans starting from just $19 per month, it’s hard to not be impressed. Fizz also offers great features like data rollover — where your unused data automatically transfers to the next month so there’s no waste — and the option to gift some of your data to another Fizz member.

Plus there are never any long-term commitments; your plan has no set end date or no minimum length. Your plan, and its price, are yours until you decide to make a change, whether that’s in a month or two years.

You’ll also be a part of the Fizz loyalty program where you’ll get awesome perks from day one, like extra data or dollars off your plan.

If you’re curious to check out Fizz too, you can sign up for an easy 15-day free trial now. After my test, I can say that I’m convinced! Visit the Fizz website to get started.
