InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town, located at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, has reopened following an 18-month redevelopment. The hotel, which originally opened in 1997, is Cape Town’s first InterContinental hotel.

The redevelopment retained elements of the property’s existing character while updating guestrooms, public areas, dining venues and guest facilities. The hotel now has 306 guestrooms, including 40 suites. The rooms were designed to provide natural light, views and residential-style accommodations.

Club InterContinental offers lounge access and personalized service. Other facilities include a Fitness Studio, SPA InterContinental, a pool terrace, reconfigured public spaces, restaurants and bars.

The hotel’s dining venues include Flint & Fennel, which serves seasonal cuisine, all-day dining and afternoon tea. Le Bistrot de JAN brings chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen’s French bistro concept to Cape Town. The Botanist’s Table serves cocktails inspired by regional botanical ingredients, while Solandra offers food and drinks near the pool overlooking the Granger Bay Precinct.

The grand opening event, titled “The Art of Arrival,” included programming focused on the hotel’s heritage and redevelopment. Guests received a travel dossier describing the transformation, craftsmanship and design details. The event also included theatrical elements referring to Table Mountain’s cloud cover.

The hotel overlooks Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, Table Bay and Robben Island. It is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts and participates in IHG One Rewards, which has more than 160 million members across more than 7,000 hotels in over 100 countries.

Sun International continues to operate InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town on behalf of the V&A Waterfront.
