Jane Fonda and Sarah McLachlan among speakers and artists at this Vancouver benefit concert

16 April 20262 Mins Read

David Suzuki is one of the most beloved and influential voices for environmental justice of our time, and Vancouver will soon celebrate his 90th birthday with a benefit concert unlike any other.

The grand night of music and storytelling will feature some pretty big names, including Academy Award-winning actor, producer, and activist Jane Fonda, iconic singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, for starters.

It might be hard to picture all of these names in the same room, let alone on the same stage, but that’s just how far-reaching David Suzuki’s impact has been. For 50 years, Suzuki has worked tirelessly in Canada and beyond to confront ecological crises and help empower people across the globe to push for climate action.

The benefit concert is a once-in-a-lifetime evening to honour his legacy and lifelong dedication to the planet.

According to organizers, “the event is a rallying cry for environmental action and a celebration of all those who have joined David on his journey.”

Taking place at Queen Elizabeth Theatre on May 22, 2026, David’s 90th birthday benefit concert will be led by the legend himself, David Suzuki, alongside award-winning author, activist and president of the David Suzuki Foundation, Tara Cullis.

Featured artists and speakers

Other featured speakers and artists include Bruce Cockburn, Jane Fonda, Al Gore, Rick Hansen, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah McLachlan, Danny Michel, William Prince, Sam Roberts Band, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, George Stroumboulopoulos, Tanya Tagaq and Tia Wood.

How much are tickets?

Starting at $278 per person, tickets certainly aren’t cheap (starting at $278 per person), but we have a feeling this dynamic lineup will be worth every penny. And considering how expensive most concerts are these days, this is your chance to put the same amount of money towards a great cause.

All concert proceeds support the David Suzuki Foundation’s work to advance climate solutions, protect the natural world, and create a sustainable future for the generations to come.

Even at 90, David Suzuki’s vision continues to spark meaningful change.

When: Friday, May 22, 2026
Time: 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Where: 600 Hamilton St.
Cost: $278+
