Kim Kardashian, one of the most famous women in the world, has shared some rare, intimate thoughts about her love life. The reality star revealed that she “needed to heal” before starting a new romance. Now, she is dating Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton.
Kardashian —worth $1.9bn according to Forbes and with 344m Instagram followers— confessed in a Zoom interview with The Times’ Style Magazine that she needed time for herself following the end of her marriage to Kanye West in 2021. “I was really single for five years. I needed to heal.”
The reality star, who currently has a new mansion under construction in California, also admitted that she has become accustomed to criticism. Her distinctive style has made her instantly recognizable: at the 2021 Met Gala, she wore a skin-tight black Balenciaga gown that completely covered her face, yet everyone still knew it was her. “I have a really thick skin,” she added.

In the interview, she also opened up about her personal life. After her divorce, Kardashian dated comedian Pete Davidson, but has largely remained single since then. “And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time.”
“I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favor when you just allow it to,” she said.
For Kardashian, those five years became an important period of personal growth.
During that time, she also continued growing her primary business, the shapewear brand Skims, which she co-founded with Jens and Emma Grede.

“It started with a simple idea,” Kardashian explained. “I’ve always loved wearing shapewear but the colour choices were two options, black or a really light, nude colour.”
“I would always dye my shapewear in the sink with tea bags to find something matching my skin tone, so I thought it would be brilliant if there was this range of almost a dozen neutral colours,” she said.
