Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, has been emotional through much of the court proceedings. Her defense has argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings, while prosecutors maintain that she understood what she was doing.
As the trial continues, jurors are being asked to consider the evidence from the investigation alongside testimony about Clancy’s mental state and the events leading up to the children’s deaths. Ultimately, they will have to determine whether Clancy was legally responsible for her actions when she killed her three children.
