Sommers brings two decades of hospitality leadership experience across luxury, lifestyle and full-service hotels. He will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, provide strategic leadership across the property, guide the executive team, advance business performance and deliver guest experiences that honor the hotel’s legacy and position it for continued success.
Most recently, Sommers served as general manager of YOTEL Washington DC, where he led the property’s post-pandemic revitalization and modernized its technology infrastructure for operational and guest efficiency.
He previously served as director of operations for Westin D.C. City Center and general manager of Capitol Hill Hotel. His career also includes leadership positions with MGM Resorts International, Forbes Five-Star Salamander Middleburg, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer Lodge and Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, now Park MGM.
Sommers holds a Master Certificate in Hospitality Management from Cornell University, with concentrations in service excellence, hospitality marketing, hotel revenue management and customer-focused leadership. He also earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
