Hilton and Heiwa Real Estate Co. have signed an agreement for the 108-room Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, scheduled to open in 2029.
Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma will be managed by Hilton and will mark the first Motto by Hilton property in Japan. Planned for Kyoto’s Shijo Karasuma area, the hotel will include 108 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant and a lounge with an open terrace.
The property will be located about a two-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line and Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line. The location will provide access to Kyoto Station, Nishiki Market, the Gion and Higashiyama districts, and the Shijo Kawaramachi area.
Nishiki Market is also known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen.” The Gion and Higashiyama districts feature traditional culture and historic streetscapes, while the Shijo Kawaramachi area offers shopping and dining.
Upon opening, Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma is expected to become Hilton’s seventh property in Kyoto. Hilton opened ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2021 and has opened five hotels in the city over the past five years. Hilton is also planning an upcoming Curio Collection by Hilton property in Kyoto.
Motto by Hilton hotels feature flexible guest rooms, locally inspired design and food and beverage offerings reflecting their surrounding neighborhoods. The Kyoto property is intended to serve families, groups of friends, solo guests, domestic and international leisure travelers, and business guests.
The signing follows recent Motto openings in Brazil and Nashville, as well as signings in Paris, Shanghai and Sydney. Motto has 13 hotels in urban, resort and adventure destinations worldwide, with more than 24 under development.
