Porter is launching four new routes from this Ontario city to Mexico, Jamaica, and Florida

28 August 20263 Mins Read

Travelling internationally out of London, Ont., often means accounting for a layover or two in other destinations, but an airline will soon offer flights directly out of the city’s local airport.

Porter Airlines announced this week that it’s launching service in London for the first time in the carrier’s history starting this November. As part of the expansion, London International Airport will see four direct seasonal routes to sunny destinations in Florida, Jamaica, and Mexico.

“The introduction of Porter service at YXU will benefit more than two million people in the Greater London area who can now fly from their local airport,” said Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines. “Travellers throughout the region deserve seamless, elevated travel options closer to home.”

Currently, travelling between London and these tropical destinations often requires a stop or two in major hubs like Toronto, Calgary, or New York — but not for long.

This fall, Porter is bringing you more options even closer to home. We’re flying direct from @flyyxu starting in November!

Porter’s service from London to Fort Lauderdale launches on Nov. 18, and will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline’s London-to-Orlando service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, starting Nov. 19.

Just in time for the holiday travel season, Porter will launch service from London to Cancun on Dec. 17, operating four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The last route, to Montego Bay in Jamaica, will launch on Dec. 18 and will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.

“For years, our region has been underserved when it comes to air service, with residents and businesses often travelling outside the region to access the connectivity they need,” said Scott McFadzean, president and CEO, London International.

“Porter’s commitment to London is a strong vote of confidence in the strength of our market, our growing economy, and the people who call this region home. It represents a commitment to rebuilding and strengthening air service in Southwestern Ontario while creating new opportunities for business, tourism, investment, and regional growth.”

All new winter routes will be operated on Porter’s new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, featuring no middle seats and an elevated economy experience, including complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free WiFi, and premium snacks.

As part of the announcement, Porter also revealed that it plans to introduce an extensive year-round domestic schedule to better connect other Canadian cities with London International Airport.

Flights are now available for booking on Porter’s website.
