30 March 20263 Mins Read

Ready to get geared up and hit the hills? We sure are.

Alberta and the Rockies have some of the longest ski seasons in the entire world. Here, you can ski and snowboard well into the spring. If you’re looking for a snowy adventure this season, you can still have one! And, we’re here to help.

We’ve rounded up some ski hills in Alberta still open for shredding, so don’t pack up your things yet, hear us out!

With six lifts spinning, Marmot Basin is ready to be explored. This hill is for new adventurers and seasoned skiers alike, with so many runs open for everyone. An official day for closing can be expected in late April or early May.

Where: 1 Marmot Rd., Jasper, Alta.

This ski hill is famous for its family-friendly atmosphere and extremely accommodating vibe, offering the easiest experience for those learning or just looking for a chill vibe. Although this ski hill has a slightly shorter season in comparison, it’s still longer than most.

Officially, it closes daytime operations for the winter season on April 19.

Where: 2 Mt. Norquay Rd., Banff, Alta.

Nakiska is known best for its lengthy ski season, as well as having over 70 excellent trails. It’s a stunning hill with many amenities like its tube park and many lodgings, perfect for a ski or snowboarding day with the family.

This ski area can be expected to close mid-to-late April, giving you at least another two weeks minimum to get your skiing in.

Where: 2 Mt. Allan Dr., Kananaskis, Alta.

Over 100 runs are currently open at this point in time, with Lake Louise’s Ski Resort being a prime ski and snowboard spot. Richardson’s Ridge is joining the hill, with 200 acres of new terrain coming this season.

The season extends well into the year, ending officially on May 3.

Where: 1 Whitehorn Rd., Lake Louise, Alta.

Banff’s Sunshine Village is one of the best ski hills in Alberta. Famous for having some of Canada’s best snow and three mountains of diverse terrain, Sunshine is proud to feature runs ranging from easy greens to the hardest double blacks.

Sunshine Village closes mid-May, after its Slush Cup on the 18th, which marks the ski hill’s traditional way to celebrate the end of the season.
