AIHA’s Mission, Vision and a Transparent Roadmap

Artificial intelligence is reshaping hospitality faster than any technological shift our industry has experienced before. The decisions being made today (by technology providers, AI platforms, hotel companies, educators, governments, and innovators) will influence how our industry operates for decades to come.

The question is not whether AI will transform hospitality. The question is whether hospitality will help shape that future. The AI Hospitality Alliance was created to ensure that our industry has a seat at the table.

We believe AI should strengthen hospitality – not replace what makes it special.

We believe the industry benefits most when competitors can collaborate on common challenges while continuing to innovate independently.

We believe hospitality deserves a strong, informed, and unified voice as AI becomes an increasingly important part of how travelers discover, book, and experience our industry.

Transparency

In an effort of transparency, we are publicly sharing our mission, vision, and roadmap so that everyone can understand where we are headed and help shape the journey.

This is not intended to be a finished blueprint. It is a living framework that will continue to evolve through collaboration with our members, advisory board, committees, partners, and the broader hospitality community.

Our Mission

The AI Hospitality Alliance is an independent organization dedicated to advancing the understanding, responsible adoption, and collaborative development of artificial intelligence across the global hospitality industry.

It is a neutral space for shared exploration and collaboration – where stakeholders exchange knowledge, discuss emerging technologies, evaluate opportunities, share implementation experiences, and collectively shape the future of AI in hospitality.

In short:

We’re building the hospitality industry’s ability to influence its own future.

Our Roadmap

Over the next 12 months, our work will focus on five strategic workstreams:

1. Agentic Direct Booking & Commerce

  • Representing hoteliers and travelers in conversations with major AI platforms

  • Improving discoverability and enabling direct booking through consumer AI platforms

  • Keeping the guest relationship with the hotel brand, during the entire customer journey

2. Standards & Technical Guidelines

Developing open interoperability guidance, technical standards, and implementation best practices that help hospitality systems work together more effectively.

  • Protocol working groups (MCP, ACP, A2A, etc.) for adapting open standards to hotel booking

  • An open-source interoperability map across major PMS & CRS APIs

  • A shared data-cleaning blueprint for AI-ready systems

  • AI visibility measurement criteria and KPIs

3. Governance & Responsible AI

  • Guidance on privacy, trust, transparency, staff impact and sustainability

  • Model AI clauses that protect hoteliers in vendor and intermediary contracts

  • Responsible deployment: GDPR, opt-in, multilingual nuance, human handoff

4. Thought Leadership & Education

  • Whitepapers and original research on AI in hospitality

  • Regular webinars, expert roundtables and hands-on workshops

  • Real-world case studies, published as an open use-case library

  • Vendor evaluation frameworks

5. Events & Industry Collaboration

Creating opportunities for the industry to connect through:

  • Industry AI Days – panel discussions and demo days

  • Frequent online events keeping the industry current on major AI developments

  • AI Hospitality Summit – our in-person flagship conference

A Commitment

We recognize the scale of this undertaking. The challenges are significant. The technology is evolving almost daily.

We will undoubtedly learn, adapt, and refine our approach along the way. What we can promise is this: we will do our best to make significant progress across all five workstreams.

Some initiatives will move faster than others. Some will evolve in unexpected ways. New priorities may emerge as AI continues to reshape our industry.

But we are committed to building real momentum, creating practical value, and moving the industry forward through collaboration.

Help Build It

Building something new is never easy.

There will be skepticism. There will be disagreement. There will be setbacks. There will be mistakes. That is the nature of meaningful work.

We know we won’t get everything right the first time. But standing still is not an option.

As Theodore Roosevelt famously wrote:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.”

Today, we choose to be in the arena.

The Alliance is not built by one person or one company. It is built by the people willing to contribute their expertise, experience, ideas, and time.

We invite you to join us. Together, we can build something that is bigger than any one company. 

One of the most meaningful ways to get involved is by applying to be considered for one or more of our working committees dedicated to the five workstreams described above, based on your interests and expertise. Whether your background is operations, technology, distribution, revenue management, legal, education, marketing, guest experience, or AI itself – your perspective matters.

This movement belongs to all of us.

Together, we have an opportunity to help shape how artificial intelligence transforms hospitality – not simply react to it.
